  1. recommendation on very cheap old flatbed

thanks for all the info. i use stops on my jv3 for indexing/overprinting. but the issue is over 10' the pinch rollers will usually miss a millimeter here and there. not even noticeable until you want to over print several times and way at the back end of the print the register may be off by a...
  2. Mimaki Pump Mods

i'd try this first. i don't have any trouble with my pumps if maintained. the best thing about it is i can have a partner dump solvent down the cap while i pull aggressively at the waste end. also if curious, you can pull a single line from the bottle to see if you are getting flow. and...
  3. recommendation on very cheap old flatbed

@ tcorn is the vutek a "pinch roller" flatbed? this issue is that i already have that going. i'm wanting to over print my sheets to the point that i almost have a low profile 3d printer. and the pinch rollers will get caught in the crevices of texture. also @ tcorn are the gerber break...
  4. recommendation on very cheap old flatbed

i have a question for the flatbed gurus out there. i've been printing on .060 aluminum (as large as 60 x 110") with a jv3 using two air tables (like air hockey). with the printer i mainly use clear, black, and white ink for my product. so i don't need process/cmyk color. i also only need...
  5. black head acting funny?

data swap render 160sp note how the ribbons travel in pairs maintaining their top and bottom position. when you do a test print the locations of the color will be off by one print head's width be cause the "y" position for that color is now different.
  6. Help: JV3-160SP

looks to me that your head carriage is falling forward "out of the gate" then corrects itself. i'd turn off the machine and slowly slide the carriage to the left looking for any twisting or lifting/lowering motion along that first section. just guessing but possibly the belt is lifting or...
  7. Mimaki Jv30-160 Error 200 - Head Memory

yup. i'd email kent and ask him if he knows any european board repair guys or handles international repairs. http://www.macmedia.com/contact_menu.html
  8. black head acting funny?

to me if you did the swap and it did nothing i figure the cables maybe weren't seated or ??? there should be no reason at all that the printer would even be aware electronically that the swap had occurred. i'd do it again just because it is the one procedure that will point to the head or...
  9. black head acting funny?

when you did the data swap, what did the test render. did the magenta left side act up? or did the issue stay with the black head?
  10. Mimaki Jv30-160 Error 200 - Head Memory

the cvj30 maintenance manual says: turn off the main power, and turn it on a little later. if the error occurs again, carry out the following/ 1. check the head memory cable 2. replace the headmemory 3. replace the ink slider pcb assy (see 6.5.9) 4. replace the ma pcb ssy (see 3.4.1)...
  11. feeling sick all the time!!!

thanks! it's more the necessity of being a small shop. i'm known to raid the local stores for chemicals daily. my favorite is when i go to walmart and buy 48 quarts of hydrogen peroxide for etching aluminum. it looks like i must be building a bomb. or i send my gf to pick up acetone...
  12. feeling sick all the time!!!

i wouldn't get too "fancy" with what kind of activated charcoal is used. the basic stuff works. i remember a long time ago at woodcraft they sold a filter that fit in the unit. it was $50 and worked for about 2-3 weeks. still wasn't a better solution than getting filters from lowe's and...
  13. black and white pic with color

two layers. the bottom one is color the top is desaturated. (make one extra desaturated layer and turn it's visibility off for a spare) use your eraser to erase the top layer where you want the color. it will show from the bottom layer.
  14. feeling sick all the time!!!

+1 for red signz... on one hand you can be "that employee" that is out to cave the business (in the owner's eyes). or you can be the employee perceived to be the one concerned about the survival of the business (that one gets the raise and promotion first). to get a more apples to...
  15. feeling sick all the time!!!

cheap scrubber this is a good solution for a cheap air cleaner. i have one of these hanging from beneath my print table. http://www.mikestools.com/50-875-Delta-3-Speed-Ambient-Air-Cleaner.aspx i get activated carbon air filters from lowe's for cheap. cut them up and you are done. at...

  17. Mimaki JV33 head starving problem with bulk system ....

i really don't think refillable carts count as "bulk" ink systems. they are just carts in the same height and position as the oem cart. any time you mess with the original position designed by the engineers you are rolling the dice. the ink systems in these printers is very highly balance...
  18. Mimaki JV33 head starving problem with bulk system ....

just put those refillable clear carts in the slots with the big back end. the physics of the machine will not be altered in any way. when the cart gets low, pop a funnel in the top of the cart and refill. http://www.solventinkonline.com/comersus8f/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=30...
  19. Non-payer what would you do

    1) probably will never ever see the money. if you opt for the donation route, add something to the bottom of the sign "donated by such and such". 2)repo 3)vandalize? whatever you do, $400 isn't enough money to give it much thought.
  20. Homemade Application Fluid??

i know nothing of application fluid. but reading the previous answer sounds like the goal it so mix water and surfactant. the best "household" surfactant is bissell hard floor cleaner. it's a non-sudsing soap. perfect from breaking the surface tension of water without making bubbles.
