  1. 3M or Avery

Go ahead and switch now! We wrap 2+ vehicles per day (along with all of our graphics), with in-house installers and sub-contractors. ALL of them will tell ya that Avery is going to fail first. We've tried it in the past on trial basis when Avery would give us rolls trying to get us to switch...
  2. Omega

Be careful where you put your dongle! (lol):omg: Seriously though, without the dongle the Composer wont work, and you can break a dongle easily so if you're sticking it in a laptop port and moving the laptop around it is in danger.
  3. Best tracking capabilities??

I know this is digging up an old thread, but we are facing the same dilemma right now! Our Gerber Odyssey is no longer plotting reliably, and we need a new 48"+ plotter to run full 50yd rolls reliably. What do you suggest?
  4. Free Stuff For Y'all

Ambulance Parts For those of you needing to mock up a box ambulance, here are the basic parts. Insert your own cab, adjust the box dimensions, and move things around as necessary. 1/20 Scale, etc.
  5. Free Stuff For Y'all

Here is a topper for van ambulances. Just insert a standard Ford or GMC van and presto; a vanbulance. 1/20 scale.
  6. Hammered Aluminum Letters

Honestly, they look like foam(?) letters that were cut cleanly and then "hammered" deformed with a torch to appear as hammered metal. And then painted accordingly. I would assume with something like Rustoeum Hammered Finish paint.
  7. 4' x 12' polymetal or maxmetal

I've ordered it a lot of times in 5'x12' pieces instead of the standard 4'x8' size. I think when I ordered it locally it I used neon Engineering in Cincinnati, OH.
  8. Help for wrapping job

I have had great success with the knifeless tape. When I've had to do something like the above photo with two colors at a set width apart I will use a corresponding width of masking tape to follow the contour of the first tapeline, and then lay the next run of knifeless tape along the edge of it.
  9. Phototex for Templates

I was thinking the other day about how to build complex templates for vehicles like ATVs, golf carts, etc where a lot of very odd-shaped panels are in play and figuring our 2-d models are tricky, when an installer walked by and commented on how nice phototex was to install that day as it does...
  10. Free Stuff For Y'all

Attached is a wrap template for an XY Powersports Max Torque 200 Buggy. (this is the kids model) I found the blue area is unnecessary, but I left it on there. Enjoy!
  11. Wraptacular

For a one-off van, no that is a bit to low unless you're a 1-2 man shop. For the large fleet orders, yes that is a very reasonable price for a simple van wrap. Volume will take up the slack, but to get the volume you have to lower the price to compete.
  12. Font frustration

You're gonna have to straighten that photo out and get out your pen tool in Illustrator (or whatever) for this one! I've encountered this one before; at least there aren't that many letters!
  13. Pinstriping with gold leaf striping

Without a photo it may be hard to answer your question 100%, but to me it seems like I would just print both the white and black on the gold and then cut/weed and then laminate and cut/weed again if they are encapsulated in the same laminate.
  14. Customers are so ignorant...

I would tell them that "you" are the local distributor of sign faces and that that amount is already part of your quote.
  15. Solara UV2 Service Manual and Driver

Nobody has one of these? I could really use one if anyone has found one.
  16. How to get design on window perf to not arc after install

RE; Tracing a 3D object into a flat 2-D piece: I really like using phototex for this, as it does not stretch and sticks well. I take the piece and place it onto the surface, trim it a bit, and then trace any ridges and edges with a grease pencil and then take it back off of the surface and...
  17. Silver Medal 2 printing errors

The EdgeFX reads those little RFID chips in the foils that tell it what foil you have and how much is on the roll (IIRC). I remember occasionally that the chips would go bad or be incorrect and you had to push "override" or whatever on the printer. Here we only have the Edge1 & 2 so they don't...
  18. Narrow Colored Vinyl Tape

Universal Products makes some great pinstriping tape in many colors and widths. The tape on a roll has a clear protective laminate/mask that you peel off after installation; regular vinyl would stretch as you try to get it straight on a vehicle. I usually buy my pinstriping/striping tape from...
  19. We all know the Edge is an ugly machine...

We use ours every day and it's ugly but so is a tank! You can't stop either of them and you'll always use them. Ours (two) print around 4+ hours every day even though we have large format.
  20. Font ID Please - Baffled

Looks like a custom "lettering" job not a font from someone like Leo's Gold Lion or another gold vinyl supplier.
