  1. Anyone with a VS configured with double cmyk ink?

I am having trouble with VW changing random ST,DP, and DK spot colors- if you look at this screenshot you will see what I am talking about. If you open the VW spot chart you cannot go into the file format>spot color>detail so I am going to try to attach the same chart that Roland sent me that...
  2. Anyone with a VS configured with double cmyk ink?

I have a RF which I believe to be a VS without the cut function and is always configured as 2xcmyk. I have a couple questions about the Versaworks printing of spot colors- has been driving me out what little mind I have left. Thanks Gene
  3. I need a 4.x version of VersaWorks please

As I said I have been going back and forth with Roland for 5-6 weeks- we have eliminated a *lot* of stuff. The printer prints beautifully and if I correct the values in the spot color detail... it prints as expected. This is a rare printer apparently- altho I believe it is the same as a 2xcmyk...
  4. I need a 4.x version of VersaWorks please

I have been going back and forth with Roland Tech for 6 weeks now on a problem where 5.2 (upgraded to 5.3) that came with my new RF printer is changing the cmyk values on some DP and DK and sometimes ST spot colors. They are now satisfied that it is not the printer but they cannot understand...
  5. The Profit Sign Shop Episode / Precise Graphix

WHAT??? Reality TV is all bullpucky?
  6. Paper backing recycle

I give a few logs of it (from the laminator) to friends who use it for painting / gluing and other messy jobs. I also have it on a dispenser so I can tear off pieces for the same reason.
  7. Problems with DP and DK spot colors with latest VersaWorks?

Is anyone else experiencing problems with some of the deep and dark spot colors- not all of them- the pr and st colors are good. I have been going around with Roland tech for 5 weeks and they seem to have given up. Thanks Gene
  8. Arlon vs Oracal

I have used 3551 GRA for many years and never had a failure. Arlon is probably good too... but I won't be finding out.
  9. Managing a business thats overloaded with work

Someone disliked my response... 'You poked my heart!' Funniest video of little kids ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sKdDyyanGk
  10. Managing a business thats overloaded with work

Techman and Cat have good ideas. I have been telling customers for years- don't put every service you can do on your signs/trailers... put on there what you like doing, what you make money at, and what you want to do. You must turn away little jobs that are not worth your time- people...
  11. profit margins?

Not enough to interest me in this area. I have made enough hard money in my life... I am now going for the easy money.
  12. Drawing a track map for vinyl sign

Nice to meet you Pete. I grew up in the CanAm and 935 era- in fact I have a 935K3 as my screensaver. I and a friend autocrossed a new '73 Corvette 454 at Donnybrook for a couple years. Not a great car but still fun, fun, fun. Gene
  13. print sticking on take up - Any thoughts??

Adjust the total ink limit? I can't see this after lamination and we laminate everything.
  14. Drawing a track map for vinyl sign

I have spent many happy days at Road America and Elkhart Lake over the years. I rarely miss the Vintage race weekends- and sport a 'Remember when Racing was Fun' decal on my cars with the Can-Am Challenge Cup logo. Used to see all the top guns in the sports car world at Donnybrook Raceway...
  15. How many times do you forget about the take up reel (before it's too late)?

I was just thinking about this yesterday, actually. Does it look anything like this?
  16. Anyone else been extorted?

I resemble that insult. Thank you so very much. Gene :noway:
  17. VS540 vs a SP-540i

One of my suppliers was parting out an old Roland for the rollers- the rest is 80/20 extrusions. Works great BTW
  18. VS540 vs a SP-540i

The RF640 (which we have) is a VS without an onboard (contour) cutter and with dual cmyk cartridges. The head is more expensive but it is much faster and has a better media handling system... with certain limitations. It takes longer to load and reload the media- my solution, as we use 90% one...
  19. VP540i VP300i Owners...

We ran a VP540 hard for 5 years and it was rock solid. Replaced one cyan head in that time and cleaned no more often than every two weeks... I would say that every four weeks was more average. The shot counts and hours were enormous when we sold it for almost half of the new price. We used...
