Bad programmers? Maybe not. Some (mainly older) browsers don't display PNGs correctly. We used to not use them at all. Now we use them but only when we need to.
I can think of things that are far worst. I kind of look at it a different way. I look at using a ".com" next to your logo as just another way to promote your website. And I personally don't see any problem with that.
Sure you can Google that company's name, but... I don't see the addition...

True, camera imagery have been done to death. but so have signature logos.
The main difference between the two is only one is helping communicate what service is being offered through imagery. The other relies solely on whether that persons name carries any weight. So the question would be...

Certain effects like transparencies, lenses, drop shadows etc... don't transfer over well from certain programs to others. You may need to flatten the image into a raster image, or make the object transparent after you open it in flexi.
Yeah I like that one. It's not as funny but it's a catchy toon. I like listening to it with some eye candy though...
