  1. Printing on metallic vinyl

I did a job last week on bright gold metallic. It was basically a black imprint, some solid areas and some gradients. It was a job that we usually Edge printed but this one was 36" x 40". It did have a circle of 3/4" green type also. Anyway, the first test print puddled in areas and walked in...
  2. sending file with reg marks to cutmaster3

When you add the registration marks, do they appear on a separate locked layer in lly?
  3. Major Contour Cutting Accuracy Issues

Generally a 6' run shouldn't be a problem, but if it is consistently, use the multiple registration marks that CuttingMaster has. It should take care of that with no problem. I was dong a 14' by 30" business name, Illustrator file with beveled blended lettering done in Photoshop and placed...
  4. removable vinyl

General Formulations Metro Mark is excellant also.
  5. Can you install wall graphics OVER dry erase paint

You can certainly install regular vinyl on dry erase boards. I've been doing that on my job boards for years. I'm not sure how different the paint would be though.
  6. Contour Cutting Heat Transfer Material

I keep a new blade just for this material. It's like a thin film of rubber and if the blade is not super sharp is will "pile up" a micro sized chunk and jump over it. You can hear it like a small zipper noise as it's cutting. New blade and as light of pressure as possible. I've printed and cut...
  7. Life size double sided cut out . How to stand?

How are you going to do the reverse side without reversing the lettering, numbers, part in his hair etc?
  8. Two sided flags???

Xarisma has a very good dye sub flag. The color density is almost identical on the reverse side and the front unlike many dye sub materials where the reverse side is about 80% of the face. Having said that, what are you looking for in a double sided flag? If you're wanting a "right read" double...
  9. Optical or Manual

I print bunches of smaller decals, usually set up to run on 30 or 36" roll stock. I set them up as 36 to 40" sheets so I can do a final chop on my large paper cutter. I have a graphtec FC7000-100 plotter so I use the Cutting Master plug in for illustrator. I can set the auto registration up...
  10. Customer wants to cover Windows for temp.

I've had very good luck with General Formulations Metro Mark. It prints beautifully on my HP26500 and applies easily although in hot sunlight is is a bit stretchy and should be pre-masked. The last job I did was up for 4 months and pulled off nicely without a bit of adhesive left behind.
  11. What is this material?

It very well be a halftone print off a Gerber Edge. You can choose your halftone pattern and also the dpi setting. I've done some long gradients with something like a 32 or even less dpi pattern before.
  12. Temporary window graphics - "COMING SOON" window wrap during new construction

I've had good luck with General Formulations Metro Mark. In my particular application is was on the windows for about 3 months facing south and pulled off easily with no adhesive left behind at all. I printed it with my HP 26500 latex printer. It has a nice satin finish also.
  13. Gerber are intro...

I've been an Edge1 user since 98 when I signed up with Gerber to be a MacImprint beta tester for them. I still make tons of money with my Edge even though I've had an HP9000s and now an HP 26500 latex. Specialized Lexan equipment labels are a mainstay although we have another client who loves...
  14. Contour cutting on perf

Are you going to have a laminate on the perf? Regardless, a slow cut is necessary and you're going to have to do test cuts to get the pressure correct. Also, there will not be enough solid vinyl to get a good enough registration mark for Cutting Master. YOu will have to put white vinyl or you...
  15. Omega 6.0 will it happen?

Don't feel bad, MacImprint hasn't been upgraded since 07 I think. I'm running out of G5 Macs to even run it anymore. Still love it though.
  16. Cold laminate coming off printed vinyl decal during car wash whats the fix?

You're on the right track with cutting your laminate larger than your decal. Basically, your aqueous receptive vinyl has a coating so your epson can print on it. However, the cut edge is basically leaves that coating exposed to the weather and moisture is wicking under your laminate. So, get...
  17. New Gold Vinyl gone bad

I've used 651 Gold for local school team decals for over 8 years now. All of them Edge printed with dark green, and have never had that happen. Granted, all of them are for 3 or 4 year usage but still, have never had a problem. Having said that, I would never use 651, as good as it is for a...
  18. NASA’s Giving Away Brilliant Space Travel Posters For Free

I just printed out two of them yesterday for a fellow employee. The indeed printed beautifully.
  19. how are speedometer faces made?

We used to do prototype speedometer faces for a large gauge company. We's reverse image screen print on clear acrylic. The black background would be opaque and we'd overprint a tinting white for the graphics. We also overprint the white a times with transparent tones of green, red etc to glow...
  20. Chrome printing / machine identification

I'd suggest that all of those samples are printed on chrome material. You need a printer that will print white, not chrome. Both the Summa and the Gerber Edge will print white and than the appropriate overprinted colors.
