No, it is not a good printer for your decals. UV on this printer is just a pigmented aqueous inkset, not the UV curable inks that you may be thinking of. The 5500 is more of a poster printer although there are certainly adhesive vinyls that are coated to accept this inks and give you a decent...
I print fire station logos on 5600 white reflective all of the time on my L26500. THe latex inks are transparent to an extent. Gold print on white will remain a reflective gold. Just be sure to put the Oraguard 290 laminate over it.
We have cutting tables with plate steel tops that we just slide our blades against just like when you're trimming the excess vinyl off a sheet of aluminum.
I'm probably the only person here that still runs MacImprint. I was a beta tester of MI back in 98. It was and still is a simple but effective way to run the edge directly from Illustrator. Unfortunately, Gerber dropped the program a long time ago. I could go into the whole story but it's not...
I've been an all Mac shop since 1988 and never regretted the decision. I have a brief windows on Parallels detour before getting Caldera rip on my Mac Mini also. I do allot of sub work from all PC shops and being Mac has never been an issue at all. Have fun in your new sandbox!
I've printed the silver flake with the transparent foils before for boat numbers and small decals on my Edge I. I'm not sure what brand it was but frankly, it's so specialized that I don't think that there are too many actual manufactures, just converters. FDC has a very nice assortment of colors.
I've done reproduction decals for an older Johnson outboard which has chrome and matt chrome along with black and red. The Edge reproduced the matt chome perfectly with their matt foil on their Delux Silver vinyl.
No one here is saying that this happens often but some of us have seen it. I've been screenprinting and applying vinyl since the mid 70's, long before we had plotters cutting colored vinyl, and I've seen it happen twice. Once on that display of my own that I posted and once when a dissatisfied...
Just the fact that it's in a boat and there's absolutely no way to keep water from migrating under it would seem to make this a challenge at best. I was at a 3M demo last week and they were showing off their new rough wall vinyl which was pretty amazing but they even stated that the top edge of...
Year ago I built a small display consisting of a white and a clear piece of acrylic that interlocked and were set on a turntable for a small decal display at a local trade show. After the show the piece was disassembled and put in storage until the next year. When opened up the next year EVERY...
It's not the heat, it's the actual flame. If it was the heat you could accomplish this with a hair dryer or heat gun. Corona treating is done with an electrical charge and is used commercially to make the various "poly" plastics printable. For the rest of us, a propane flame works just fine...
Was this just a door or panel decal or some sort of wrap job? If it was just a printed logo of sorts, what did you remove the premask before installation? It was there for a reason. A thin cast vinyl with liquid laminate is way to flexible to install if its not air release.
A picture would...
I just cut a couple of 1/2" squares with each color. Thank on the second installed color, cut them right through the premask and backing leaving a 1/2" hole to line up exactly with the installed ones. THan just peel them off wend finished.
I just ordered a printed poly 4x8 cutting map. Actually, it's a replacement. The one in the table at the moment is as least 12 years old. I't still usable but most of the grid is finally worn off by years of cutting and occasionally you hit a groove that pulls the knife. Never the less, they're...
I have my old G4 hooked up to my Graphtec 7000-100 via the serial connection and my MacPro hooked up via USB. I can cut from either via Cutting master from Illustrator without a hitch. I contour cut from the Pro all of my decals from my HP26500 and just to normal vinyl cutting from the G4. I use...
We went to antenna from basic cable when Charter went digital. Our only problem was recording recording the antenna signals because we watch competing network shows quite often. I finally found a non-fee DVR box offered by Channel Master for $250.00. It has a bit of memory in it but you can plug...
