It does not. These should be open lines from the damper to the needle. Occasionally the needle might plug, but that is pretty rare. There could also be a kinked line, again very rare.

Does the yellow cartridge have sufficient ink? If you pull out the cartridge will it suck air?

Only the 1608HS is the only current product. It is the hot air knife version with the SpectroVue port. The HA is the hot air knife version without SpectroVue port, the heater controls are integrated into the printer control panel. The A had external heater controls. Hope this helps.

You can just unlatch it and move it away, or put it in maintenance mode.

The other thing to look at is the cap itself. Although very rare on the ValueJets the cap can swell up and make contact with the bottom of the head and wick ink between cartridges. When this happens you will find that ink will move from the fullest carts to the least full trying to equalize.

Are the drain lines after the cap clear and is ink freely flowing to the waste? Is there a pool of ink in the capping station?

I would try a few small cleans, then start head soak. A lot of deflected nozzles, hopefully you didnt damage the head during install.

If all the cables and connections are good. Sounds like the head is probably the issue.
