it is MUCH easier to secure tools/equipment plus you do not have to worry about the weather as you would in the bed of a truck and it makes a mobile billboard for you to wrap
what is causing the stretching? we use a fair of the 3641 for the temp signs are not getting any stretching.
Why are you using the laminator for application? a Big Squeeze can be done as fast if not faster than the laminator.
there is a difference between layouts and logos. make sure you understand the difference and more importantly make sure the client is understanding the difference.

What machine are you using?
How cold is it in the print room?
What is the heat setting on the machine?
How long do you let it in the printer before it starts printing?
sounds like there is too much heat, that is the normal cause for curling on media
With such a small price difference why even bother with paper printing? Banner is so much more durable and lets face it when someone hears the word "sign" from a "sign shop" they are expecting longevity.
back to the OP if they are dead set on the EL CHEAPO then do banner no hem / no grommets...
