  1. Naz-Dar Question

FYI, NazDar's 9700 "all purpose" ink works just fine on vinyl substrates and is a whole lot less caustic and smelly and cleans up allot easier too. We're a long time flat stock screen shop and haven't used vinyl ink in 15 years at least.
  2. Expanding a weighted outline to cut

I trust that you're kidding John but just in case. View>Outline in the title bar.
  3. Quest to expand my skills

Some entertaining training on Adobe stuff. Weekly videos. http://www.photoshopusertv.com/ http://www.layersmagazine.com/layers-tv
  4. Internet Speed Test 20MB!!?

2.51 down and .12 up ATT Dsl, we're too far from the sub-station to kick us up to the next level.
  5. New Back-up Computer / year 1986

1988, Macintosh CI, Illy 3.0, Signpost, Graphtec 5100. Fonts all system wide. $35-$65 a family. About $8,500 total cost. Picked up the Mac at my local shop. Three days later the Graphtec arrived via UPS. Three hours later I was cutting my amberlith. DOS, no lessons. The first job we did was a...
  6. Error when opening Large Dimensional jpgs in Illustrator

Have you tried opening the jpg in PhotoShop and dragging and dropping into an open Illy file?
  7. Error when opening Large Dimensional jpgs in Illustrator

Why open it instead of just placing it? You can't edit a jpeg in illy anyhow.
  8. hp 9000s - Anyone use these inks? Fieldcenter.com

I bought a couple of colors but haven't actually installed them yet. I did talk to a Signs Now who has been using them for over a year and he was quite pleased with them.
  9. Spectratone Color Guide?

Personally, I use mine quite a bit. It's certainly the easiest way to match a color sample that a customer brings in. In many cases, being able to print a vinyl color match instead of purchasing a 10 yard roll of vinyl saves bucks instantly too.
  10. Waterslide Decals...

The Imagecast is twice as thick as the .001" poly. So if thickness is really an issue, that won't do it for you. We have screen printed waterslide decals in the past but it's a real labor intensive job with 3 or 4 separate hits of clear along with the actual color prints. Unless your producing...
  11. Poster Board Help

Terry, I understand the temptation of offering a service for free to actually get the job. But, you've already given them a deal on the quantity print. The order was for 22k images but evidently, this was broken up into a number of different images. Was your quantity price break on the whole 22k...
  12. Poster Board Help

Terry, We screen the same product and deliver them flat and unstapled. I know that the back side of the board is somewhat impregnated and resists just about anything including ink. Have you talked to the supplier for their suggestion? The AGT gun and tape would certainly be the fastest solution...
  13. Payroll with Quickbooks for MAC?

Kurt, I don't know if my mention of using Excel spooked you but you don't even need that. You should have the Fed and State withholding tables already. Just track your checks and deductions on a spread sheet, that's the paper kind. Enter the figures in QB in the appropriate accounts. You need...
  14. Payroll with Quickbooks for MAC?

We have a much older version of QP on our G4 Powerbook. Quickbooks has a separate application called CheckMark for payroll, that my wife uses at another business that she is bookeeper for. It isnt' free by any means. Here at our business we've never had more than two employees so my wife keeps...
  15. Cleaning computers

No viruses Si, it doesn't need sterilization like those other ones.
  16. Cleaning computers

Lat time I cleaned my MacPro I just popped off the side panel and put the little sucker wand on the vacuum cleaner. It does a pretty good job but you should use in in conjunction with a soft brush on the circuit boards.
  17. What is the best software to use with the Graphtec FC3100-60

Yes, or one of the above mentioned programs. I do have an ancient, (1994), version of SignPost which was the original Macintosh bridge application for plotters. I used it with my first CI and Illy 88 all the way through Illustrator V9, i THINK. It's been a long time and I don't remember for...
  18. What is the best software to use with the Graphtec FC3100-60

I just checked Graphtec's website, http://www.graphtecusa.com/ , and it appears that your 3100 is no longer supported, otherwise, it would have been a free download. I checked mine and it doesn't go back that far either. It might be worth a phone call though, you never know. The individual who...
  19. What is the best software to use with the Graphtec FC3100-60

Just don't pay too much for that Mac. It's an old one with OS 9 on it and there are no new applications available for it anymore unless you upgrade to an early version of OS X. I bought two packed Dual 1gig processer G4's for $100 last summer. I have to run Illy v10 for printing on my Edge with...
  20. What is the best software to use with the Graphtec FC3100-60

Ok, lets throw in some first hand information. Right now I'm running an older G4, OS 10, and Illustrator 10. Cutting Master cuts directly from Illy. It's a plug in, not a "bridge" application, and it works just fine. I ran it on OS 9 on a G4 also. I am also running it on my MacPro, OS 10.5.8 and...
