  1. Cutting Dibond

first if you are cutting a circle you can test your cuts on the corners. those will be the drops. the rotozip will be a disaster. too much variation/chatter. the simple way is use a router. try to bring into the design something in the center to cover up an 1/8" hole. that way you can...
  2. Anyone that knows much about photography AND printing?

@jesse the photo would be to bitmap the texture onto the final. otherwise i think there'd be no optical illusion. eyes are easily deceived.
  3. dual monitors

i don't think the tvs will have the resolution for graphics. of course with tvs today maybe i'm not much of a techy. the middle monitor at 30" would be the sweetest set up if affordable. anything bigger is outside of your peripheral vision at a close seating position. off topic... check out...
  4. Anyone that knows much about photography AND printing?

not sun or shade. take the pic, vectorize over the pic. and get a sample of the paint color and match it in shop.
  5. dual monitors

i've always had duals. i'm about to switch to three but with a slight modification. i'm up to my eyeballs in layers and channels with photoshop (about 18"-24" if all opened going down). i'm getting two inexpensive 22" monitors to go on each side of my 25" but mounted vertically. so that i...
  6. Turn $20 into $5000 - is it possible?

no matter what the business model, always gear it towards scalability. if it starts looking like a trade, don't be frustrated if you are being compensated as the tradesman. i've been making anything 2d from art to signs for 30 years since i was 12. and have been at the top and the bottom...
  7. Advice Please

i predict and incredible public backlash if the man with a gun (itialian gangster) is ever accepted. some people will be very offended. ...the food is to eat. the gun is too kill people. just doesn't remind me of an evening with my family or date.
  8. Printing Stops on VP540

the sp's can have electrostatic build up... after turning off from the front and then the back, unplug, then press the front "on" button four times slowly. this is the only way to fully discharge the capacitors. i've seen that procedure cure a pesky sp.
  9. SP300i - Black/Cyan Printhead Issue (w/Pic)

i'd bet slightly toward that being diverted/clogged nozzles. a scratch will usually produce much more strange printing anomalies. do a head soak and some head cleans... make sure to be constantly keeping each test pattern in chronological order so you can monitor progress. if these missing...
  10. Reducing highlights in Photoshop

i'd burn and dodge it. if the image falls apart, i might do a photocopy of the image to save the structural mushroom, then color range the highlights so that you can dodge them to perfection. it does have a good bit of flatness and highlight.
  11. JV3-250SP changes from 4-pass to 2pass

similar discussion on yahoo jv3 board. search messages: "bi-directional problem"
  12. JV3-250SP changes from 4-pass to 2pass

this sounds familiar... wondering if it was discussed here or on the jv3 yahoo board. sorry don't remember the remedy.
  13. I have scratched my head(s)

if you are slightly mechanical you should be fine for the head change. the first one will be about an hour getting familiar, then the other two will be about 10 minutes each. as far as heads, i've seen solvent dx4's as low as $550 lately coming from chinese distributors. and the $700s in the...
  14. dx5 printing full mono (all jets)

thanks rooster, you are definitely a guru.
  15. dx5 printing full mono (all jets)

@rooster it seems like it'd be about a half day's work to add that to the firmware. all the algorithms are in place. so do you mean, in kind, a JV5 can go balls out running all four heads in mono, because the jv5 by design can dedicate a single dx5 head to mono. that would be insane if i...
  16. dx5 printing full mono (all jets)

is there any rip available that will allow a JV33 or other dx5 based printer to run full monochrome? or for that matter a rip that would make a JV3 or other dx4 based printer do the same. as in all ink lines to the head running one single color (black, clear, white). theoretically being able...
  17. Air purifiers for printing environments?

get a crappy box fan/s for $14, buy some activated charcoal filters at home depot for $12. turn on the fan, sit the filter in front of it. it will be vacuumed to the front. ...you are done.
  18. Versacamm SP-540V barely printing after move...

i'm just wondering if you've proven that you are getting proper supply. even rows of ink sitting in your caps is the quickest way to estimate ink supply.
  19. Versacamm SP-540V barely printing after move...

after doing the cleaning, is there the usual amount of latent ink in the caps? and have you monitored the waste tubes during pumping? also, is the printer level?
  20. Help! Mimaki JV33 - Banding problem! Please help

looks like ink starvation, maybe. have you done some color isolation? print big blocks of c, y, m, and k. to observe if all the colors give you this effect or just the cyan.
