  1. Interpretation of Wrap Proof Notes

To me it looks like the tech was "Webster", he used a profile called "Avery 2012" to print your material, and the other notes look like adjustments he made to that profile for your job. If the material says 3M on the back, it's 3M. Most of our materials here are printed on settings not called...
  2. What material should I use?

    X2 on LexEdge material.
  3. reflective decals that somehow are not that visible on police cars

"Stealth Police Graphics Packages" We haven't done any like that style around here, but I would assume like is mentioned above. Find the closest reflective to the paint color and letter it with that. It will never be a "ghost" effect, but it's the closest you can come with reflective vinyl...
  4. White Perf Vinyl

Trigon Imaging (in Cincinnati, OH) should have it. http://www.trigonimaging.com/ I think that's where we purchased some...
  5. Cutter problem

There are a few tests in the menu and service menu that you can run to test your scanner & the level it needs set to.
  6. FC8000, CM3, Mark Scan Errors...

I just got off the phone with a tech and he fixed me up! I was set to the wrong language (HPGL vs GPGL), as I was previously sending through Gerber Omega. He had me set it to AUTO, and then I changed both of the step settings to 1016/in (both were set to 256/in previously) I am now cutting...
  7. Fixing supplied file for smooth gradient?

You should be fine saving it as a JPEG; it'll be quicker & maybe VW would be happier with it.
  8. FC8000, CM3, Mark Scan Errors...

Ok, I went back to Cutting Master 2 at the recommendation of the Graphtec tech. I also figured out that it IS finding the first registration mark; and then it is only going about 1/4-1/3 of the way to look for the next mark... if I have a mark ~12" away it looks about 3"; for ~24" away it looks...
  9. FC8000, CM3, Mark Scan Errors...

    anyone? :iamwithstupid
  10. temporary swimming pool graphic?

Would Phototex work? I've never tried to install it underwater...
  11. FC8000, CM3, Mark Scan Errors...

Up until recently we've been doing all of our large format cutting of prints by manually aligning the tool with the origin point. However, we would like to start using Cutting Master 3 with our Graphtec FC8000-160 to achieve more accurate cuts. I have installed Cutting Master 3, upgraded the...
  12. 40" laminator recomendations???

We purchased a 54" GFP about 4 months ago, has been working flawlessly. I would also recommend going ahead with a 54" laminator; for when you will possibly upgrade your printer. You can run the 40" rolls on it for now, and then switch over to 54" later. It's only a couple more feet of space, and...
  13. Carbonite

A customer of ours invented GorillaBackups.com. They have been a data recovery company for many years, and found that the current solutions offered were lacking for their customers. It is a smaller company, so if you ever need tech support; you're talking to one of the owners, not an overseas...
  14. Scale and ppi

yeah, it's all saved in panels as the flattened artwork before it's printed. I usually do the paneling manually to eliminate as many seams (or at least seams in bad places) as possible.
  15. Installing Large printed SAV

The 2nd is more common, but it all depends on the installer, their experience, the material being installed, the surface you're installing it on, and many other factors. Whichever gets the job done (correctly) the quickest is the correct way for that particular installer.
  16. Scale and ppi

I do it for full wraps all the time. Just did two ambulance wraps that way. (2+GB files!) My computer is around a year old, and I'm running CS4 (32bit) still; I wish I had a SSD!
  17. Scale and ppi

Design at 100% at 125ppi in PS, save as a PSB.
  18. Partial Wrap, your thoughts?

Your're right; they have no "branding", but being a family business in the community - as long as the name is seen the target customer probably already has their number wrote down next to their rotary phone. Their pill bottles there are blue, no idea why; I don't know any other pharmacies...
  19. Partial Wrap, your thoughts?

We did use the knifeless tape, and it worked great yet again. We had the same thoughts on where to put it on the fenders though, but after it was finished just ended up leaving it as-is.
