On a firetruck or ambulance it takes longer than I would like it to... Around 12-16 hours on average? But, every door is a different piece of striping, as the striping wraps all the way into the door gaps, then trimming, etc. There are also safety graphics on the inside of the cabinet doors for...

Diamond Dots This truck is not a new truck, just a customer who wanted to improve their visibility and safety. We used a product called Diamond Dots (available from Firehouse Decals). The product comes in strips of the dots that are supposedly correctly spaced for diamond plate; but from my...
  3. Are we still charging for additional colors

The only time I charge for "extra colors" is when I print with my EdgeFX, I just add to my SF price when there are multiple foils involved.
  4. sp 540..cartridges not conected

Did you run a linear calibration after re-inserting the freshly cleaned encoder strip? It will help you verify that it is 100% cleaned or not.
  5. applying vinyl on magnets. please help!

I have had great success with applying to magnets wet. No idea why; I don't do anything else that way, but magnets seem to work perfect every time wet-installed.
  6. Which way to go................??

I believe CS6 is now subscription based, so you are not going to have th ebig hit you're thinking at once... is that correct? If the computers are old enough to be running CS2&# then they are probably 32bit operating systems, correct? (Win XP?) You're going to want to go to Windows 7 to take...

Taekwondo Graphics This customer saw a stars & stripes layout I did for another local business & liked it so much he wanted to copy it. After some re-thinking, he changed it into something else that was more his "style". (his image incorporates a lot of lightening bolts & "pow" shapes) At...

"Chicago Style" I love my hotdogs "Chicago Style" from Sonic, but I also like ambulances "Chicago Style". Here is a recent one that we did in that style. The top was painted black from the factory; the middle black stripe is 3M Black Reflective. Again, we used Reflexite for the chevron striping.
  9. A few recent jobs

Union Ambulances Two local cities near me both go by a similar name; keeping track of emails & notes from all the sales-people is kind of frustrating when the projects hit around the same time. Everything is 3M Reflective, most is just cut vinyl but some is Edge printed. We used Reflexite...
  10. A few recent jobs

Here is a regular customer of mine. Normally they do their ambulances in Metallic Blue & Silver; but an employee lost the battle against breast cancer - so they decided to dedicate an ambulance in her memory. They liked the look so much that they changed another one to a similar motif. The rear...
  11. New Interceptor (Taurus) and Caprice (extended G8)

Nice work, I'm getting 15 of the Tauruses in today... fun fun fun. At least this dept is going with a simpler, no stripes layout now! Other departments are gonna be a pain with the big dip in the Taurus doors! I have not seen any of the new Caprices here at our shop, ever, not even demos...
  12. 13.5" Laminate Rolls?

210 won't work with the shorter life expectancy. 99% of the graphics are police cars/ambulances/firetrucks. Do you get any troubles out of your slit rolls? Another supplier of mine used to occasionally slit rolls for me but I had some deviation & edge defects so I stopped doing it that way.
  13. 13.5" Laminate Rolls?

That is my usual supplier, when I inquired about an alternative material my sales rep did not know of any. I will call him about this product! Thanks.
  14. 13.5" Laminate Rolls?

I've recently ran into a problem with receiving a shipment of laminate that I thought would be commonplace... When I print with my EdgeFX onto materials, I laminate with 3M 8519 that comes in 13.5" rolls from my supplier. However, last time I ordered about 8 rolls - so it's been a while...
  15. Wrap Material - Hate to start a new thread but...

Find out which of your local suppliers are having wrap training classes in the near future. The classes are normally brand-specific, but the training is what you need at this point. It helps them familiarize you with the material (and helps them sell it to you), but you will see what you are...
  16. looking for someone to print on clear for me

Anyone with a Gerber Edge can, but we are limited to 11.7" wide though based upon machine restrictions...
  17. Recommendations Please

Street banners can be tricky... Who is doing the install? is a cable currently existign that this will be hung on? Banners hanging over roadways like this are a "liability", as if it falls it could cause an accident; hence the lightweight material, wind slits, multitude of grommets, velcro...
  18. auto insurance claim

How many quotes did you get? I should be worth your while to get 2-3 quotes from different body shops (assuming the car is still drive-able). That will show them that the cost to fix the vehicle is higher than their check; which should cover the repair in full. Another body shop may also...
  19. Transparency in drop Shadow doesn't print with Transparency

Do you have a spot color in the image? Transparency & spot colors do not mix. (The spot color "CutContour" or whatever the cut-line is called counts as a spot color IIRC)
  20. Police Car Decals

Most of the departments I'm getting to letter around here (in the next couple weeks... it seems like they all always arrive at the same time every year) are going "boring" or simpler this year. Some of it has to do with budget cuts, but most are tired of seeing the "over the top", flashy...
