  1. Laminating Perf Streaks

Squeegee marks are normal. They will go away shortly. We once had a customer complain about them on his car window.. We told him wait 24-48 hours and they'd be gone, but that wasn't good enough. Long time customer, so we agreed to do it again - Called 3M and asked about it, and we were told...
  2. Digital UV print

We usually put on some high tac vinyl, and it comes right off when you remove the vinyl. Leaves a bit of ghosting... To which we use methanol to remove. You could pour some alcohol on it, then use some find or something and cover it so the alcohol doesn't evaporate, it'll eat it away and...
  3. Need Help Printing on colored vinyl

Hah... never would have even thought to just cut around the crop marks ,an even better solution, good thinking!
  4. Discussion Do I have to wait 24hrs so I can laminate?

Latex is instant dry. It doesn't use chemicals like solvent, you can laminate the moment it's off the printer with no issues. Or even apply it instantly without laminate if that's what your doing. Same with uv prints pretty much.
  5. Discussion Do I have to wait 24hrs so I can laminate?

Where are the mods to remove offtopic posts when you need them ;) Focus on helping OP, not bickering!
  6. Graphtec Fc8000

Can you record a video of it with your phone and upload it to youtube? Having some troubles understanding still. Does the knife holder go up/down at all, or does it just move across the carriage?
  7. Need Help Media wont load straight for contour cut

interesting, I can see that being useful! The ruler would help hold the material down, and prevent it from moving also. It doesnt always happen.. Usually only on reverse wound up rolls and heavy material, when I align the marks up and slowly inch my way to the middle to free up a hand to close...
  8. Onyx 12.2.5 need help doing automatic nozzle cleaning

I'd worry more about the cause of why you're losing colors than a quick fix like cleaning after xx prints. AFAIK, Onyx can't setup automatic cleanings... Does your printer not have its own control panel / manager? It should be a setting on the printer somewhere, if its capable of doing it. Our...
  9. Discussion Do I have to wait 24hrs so I can laminate?

No worries. Truth is even if you laminated after 5-10 minutes, you PROBABLY would be fine. Not laminating for xx hours is the best, most optimal conditions... but how often does everything in the world go perfectly? I've laminated the moment ink wasn't tacky, and AFAIK there were no problems...
  10. Discussion Do I have to wait 24hrs so I can laminate?

You don't HAVE to... But should you? Yes... Every ink, every material, every shop is different... Theres different temps, different amounts of solvent in the ink, etc. So there is no magic number. Ink is comprised of pigment, and "solvent", like rubbing alcohol. It takes more than minutes for...
  11. Need Help Printing on colored vinyl

Can't group them up? Look into changing the sensitivity on your cutter and give that a try. It should work... I know on the graphtec it can go so low, it'll pick up dust as a sensor. Just make sure to turn it back up for your regular stuff!
  12. What do you guys use for self promo?

It's all about marketing. Do you purchase from a printer because you have a pen with their name on it? No... But if you see / use the pen 24/7, the printer will be in the back of your mind next time they have to make an order. If your pen is close by with all your information, it takes the...
  13. Need Help Printing on colored vinyl

I'd cut some white vinyl, and cover an inch around the crop marks, rather than print out a set of registrations. The black should be a good color black, even printed on brown - It's the transition from brown to black that its not registering. Cut some white squares with your cutter, and throw...
  14. Greetings from Canada!

I'd get a laminator. Doing it by hand is always iffy. They're not too expensive. $5200 for a RS laminator. If you get a eco-solvent, you'll likely be laminating everything... so Thats a lot of laminating. You can also mount vinyl to metal/plywood with it... Not the most efficient way, but good...
  15. Greetings from Canada!

Welcome from Vancouver! Do you have any experience in the sign industry, or are you just starting? Any other hardware besides a printer on your line up? You'll want a Laminator for sure... Maybe even a cutter. As for which - Just remember when reading complains, people who complain are 10x...
  16. Leaving ink in a UV printer turned off

Ask them to turn it on and run a nozzle test? Every XX hours our FB500 does automatic cleanings. I don't think it's AS bad as a solvent being left off... But it definitely should be kept plugged in, unless they flush the lines. One day a new guy left the printer waiting for media... Which...
  17. 3m vinyl colors

A very Quick google search of them numbers brings up that information. 3630-3123 - Google Search Always google the codes, I never trust 3M/other companies search engines... Google tends to bring them up every time though!
  18. HP latex ink usage

I don't know if I'd Believe him. Goto your accounting web tab, click help and read the bottom. If it were exact, hp wouldn't say within 15% accurate, with warnings everywhere that they're just estimates. I'm on. My very first ink set.. and heads. I'll probably be through the back in by next...
  19. HP latex ink usage

Interesting, didn't know that. Do you know off the top of your head if its just in the "premium" version? I've been running flexi for like...3 hours worth of print time, so I'm not used to it yet, more used to onyx. Sadly I only have the HP Basic edition... Can't decide if I want to go cloud...
  20. Need Help Need some guidance in profiling under Onyx ProductionHouse 12

Heres a good thread on ink limits. Understanding Ink Limits I don't have an Aqueous printer... but it should be like a Solvent. The ink limits limits how much ink gets put down on the paper - Generally you want to stop it wherever it becomes black, anything higher than that is a waste of ink...
