  1. Thank you Dan Antonelli

Another two thumbs up for Dan from me. I specifically wanted something that would work well as signage - our shop is on a busy street so I need to get the brand in commuters' heads in those few seconds they are going past. The old logo - works fine on a website and stationery but useless...
  2. Considering an HP5500 Designjet - Good or bad?

Good poster printer. Inks and media are more expensive than eco solvent.
  3. RIP Software

We run 4 printers and one cutter off Onyx Production house V10. It can rip two files at the same time. Lots of people on here complain about it but I find it does a fantastic job. We have used it for a long time and I'll admit there is a learning curve. The amount of control you have over...
  4. ProWraps, hate to break your heart but...

Do you people have to ruin EVERYTHING?? You mean even that time that bald musclehead repo man got tased and wet himself it wasn't real??? Mummy make the bad men stop.
  5. Wacky Onyx size compensation

Yeah I never expect printed lengths to be exact. I just assumed it was the nature of roll fed LF printers.
  6. Wacky Onyx size compensation

Ahh in that case go into Media manager. There's a scaling option in there - you print a strip, measure it, then type in the actual length then a compensation scale is applied to every job printed after that.
  7. Profiling Versaworks 4

Eye4clr is the man on this topic - restricting inks by chroma will save you ink and money while still maximising gamut.
  8. Armed or Unarmed?

  9. Wacky Onyx size compensation

You can change media sizes easily through Rip-Queue File > Manage Printers > select printer > Page sizes. This can be trap for the unwary - if the roll isn't wide enough the rip will automatically scale the job down to fit. I can't imagine any circumstance where that would be ideal. To...
  10. encapsulated laminate print question

Yep. I never use spray glue - it gets everywhere.
  11. Nightmare Latex Printer

Increase the cure temp or increase number of passes. If the media melts before the ink dries it is not compatible.
  12. Roland VS 6400. 4 Color vs 6 Color Setup?

If you plan on printing photography or art prints six colour will give you less grain in light areas. For signs four colour will be fine.
  13. Color Space

Except most rgb art you will receive will be srgb which already has a slightly smaller gamut. Simply changing it to adobe1998 won't increase these files' gamut so there is no point.
  14. Installing Photoshop after hard drive crash

Phone them. I had the same issue - I reformatted a drive containing CS and the new install wouldn't let me activate. They sorted it while I was on the phone to their call centre in India or wherever.
  15. Why the limited gamut?

Yes he is. Heed his advice those who want to learn about correct colour. I've done it both ways - no custom iccs, print and tweak - and custom profiling. Believe me, getting a handle on colour management practice was one of the best business investments I've made.
  16. "Can you email me the file?"

So insulting tags are permitted as long as they are about Adtechia? Interesting. I'd just give them the art. If it was part of a job they paid you for it's understandable they think it's theirs.
  17. Graphtec Blades in Aus.?

Try Anitech. I got some Graphtec parts off them a while ago.
  18. Why the limited gamut?

I run relative colorimetric and dupont watercolor input profile and black point compensation turned on and am getting better colour than I ever have previously. No need to go in and richen blacks in the rip as we used to in 7. Just my experience. YMMV.
  19. Why the limited gamut?

Onyx 10 has automated the ink restrictions step (the only difficult part of profile creation) so you print a swatch, read it, then move on to the next step. I was dubious at first but have been getting great results.
