  2. Thick vinyl for stickers

This is good info. I posted the same question a while back. I used Oracal 3165 3.75 mil. It worked well, but I would still prefer thicker. 5 Mill sounds good. I'll keep the infor for next time.
  3. Kayak wrap...

Very Nice. I wish I had my printer back when I built my kayak 8 years ago. I had to use REAL carbon fiber with clear epoxy and 6 coats of UV varnish to have the carbon fiber look on the hull. It cost a fortune. I have been thinking about pursuing this business. Laying on a wrap, then coat...
  4. Career choice stress

That Steve Jobs speech is wonderful. The fact that all fear of failure, pride etc fall away in the face of death is so inspiring. The loss of my father last year at the age of 66 is what motivated me to start living my life my way and start my business. It was such a wake up call that life...
  5. How do you handle phone quote requests?

I hate asking a question and it being totally ignored by the seller. I don't see harm in answering a question with a price range if that is the first thing they ask, even if the range is wide. Then the dialogue that follows, as posted previously would work wonders. Though I have learned...
  6. First Post

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And whoever beholdin' that thing beholdin' one ugly sign. Just kidding. I am doing work for a client who wants red, white and gray swirling stripes on a green and white shuttle van. It looks like a fricken candy kane! (see my post on christmas to...
  7. What Happened....

If you celebrate Christmas, which I don't. Not for religious reasons, but for what you said exactly. Then yes, it is always around the corner. Look at it this way: Christmas "Time" starts, for arguement sake, we'll say November 1st. With all of the after Christmas sales, decorations, trees...
  8. Is YOUR imagination HALF this good?

His accent alone makes me look way inferior!
  9. help on tricky install

Turn the screwdriver to the left until all of the screws come out on the brackets. Then install the wrap. Then turn all the screws to the right in their original holes until they are tight. If there are nuts on the other side you may have to use a wrench (use the size of wrench that matches the...
  10. Sp300 in trouble, pls help if poss

Check the voltage switch first, but it probably has not been touched. I had this happen to mine, I beleive, a few months ago when I set it up after a 25 hour drive with it from where I bought it, but if I remember it did "just go away" As the previuos poster suggested, let it cool down for...
  11. What to do with low ball competitors

How do you know why he is getting outbid? I am, quite simply actually, listing reasons for price differences in any market. If a competitor has 25% less overhead than you, gets his supplies at 10% less than you, does an install in 75% the time it takes you (good quality or not) then they can...
  12. What to do with low ball competitors

I'm not sure if you're asking a real question or just venting. If you are venting, let it out. This seems to be the place to do it. If you are really asking why... My guesses are: They most likely have less overhead than you. Or they're trying to get into the market and build a clientbase, so...
  13. For anyone looking for a good backup solution

I just use an external hard drive with Comodo Backup. You can tell it what folders to back up and it's just one click. I think it only copies files that have been modified since the last back up so it is really fast as well.
  14. Gotta love Some customers.

You could do them for $0.50 if you use single ply and a no-name permanent marker.
  15. In The Spirit of the Bank America Commercial

Fred's post of the Bank of America Commercial got me remembering these great news story's from the Onion http://www.theonion.com/video/new-apple-friend-bar-gives-customers-someone-to-ta,17693/ (NOTE: Some may find the language offensive)...

  19. Best employee gripe so far...

Just to be clear, I'm not calling you unprofessional, I'm just putting it out there to reflect on. As in asking the question "I'm not sure if..." Sarcasm was not intended either. Gees, now I'm rambling like your ex-employee.
  20. Rusting on stainless

Stainless is tricky. If you introduce dissimilar metals to the surface, like aluminum oxide sandpaper, it can rust much worse. Polishing compounds would be my first try. Bill accordingly
