+1 Mathews Acrylic Polyurethane. They also have an EZSpray system that allows you to make your own spraybombs, but I'd imagine it would be even more expensive to paint this way exclusively as it turns $10 paint into a $25 can.
still, super cool stuff. highly recommend you take your supplier up on their training program before you start practicing with pricey material or particular clients. I got swept up into this stuff during covid, so onsite training was nonexistant & I had to learn via interwebz/zoom.
oh, and it scratches easily. It comes with a protective film layer for application, but once its removed it needs to be known that it will look like the hood of a car your kid washed with a beach towel unless you take special non-abrasive care when cleaning.
low voltage wires get soldered onto both sides of the film along an edge, which is spanned by silver paste & copper strips that introduce the current that rides on either-side of the liquid crystal layer sandwiched inside the two layers of plastic. creates a low voltage arc that orients the...
yup. its a pita, but as the video shows.... cleanliness is godliness. definitely not fun until you get into a groove on your 3rd out of 20+ window project, but super satisfying turning it on/off a million times after install while patting yourself on the back.
I'm still slightly disappointed...
yeah, its the corrosion of the lenses/electronics from the HCLgas emitted from burning PVC. Technically, you CAN cut it, just like you CAN chase your Ibuprophen with a glass of wine....but its only a matter of time before your liver fails.
3M DiNoc is still awesome for a vinyl replacement of...
interesting.... matte kills reflectability. curious why someone would do such a thing.
regardless, you can't print white reflective ink. if i'm mistaken, then I've got another wishlist item because I'd save a TON on reflective media.
given the jumbled info & pics, my best guess is that...
i was amazed too when I first started hearing about UV inks for vehicle wraps.
Ritrama cast is good vinyl.... OP is certain to ghost on this thread but my money is on him using a hard/medium inkset for rigid applications, where a soft inkset is intended for the purpose of banners/wraps/vinyl.
We've made walking trail signs in Michigan, unrelated to your project but relateable :)
Ours were 1/8" aluminum with printed&laminated 3M whatever IJ680 was back in ...2005?
Any "signs/graphics" shop in your area should be able to whip these up for you to pickup, I see an Art-FX Signs in...
My guess, ink buildup would result from operational failure of, in order: maintenance station > waste ink funnel/wiper > waste ink line > waste ink container.
the ink cycles through the printhead, and has to go somewhere. HP has made this process pretty user-friendly with easy to replace...
"The overcut setting is used to tell the machine to cut a little further at the end of a shape to help guarantee closure. This is due to the fact that the blade tip is positioned at an angle and not directly in the center of the holder."
overcut would correct that. The setting would be minimal...
HUGE fan of adding an 1/8"-1/4" weed border around lettering the smaller it gets. It adds a level of satifaction to weeding, kinda like those tiktoks of peeling paint striping.
adds a little time to your plot, but pays out dividends in recuts and helps easier identify your product to remain.
