  1. Illuminated push through letters material

countour-cutting your shapes of white trans., rather than field-applying and trimming by-hand afterwards. works great for big stuff, but if you're doing individual lettering it becomes a PITA real fast.
  2. Lam overlays on wrap?

it also makes it a bit more difficult to wrap 4-layers of material on a contour. much easier to apply separately, and place precisely.
  3. Illuminated push through letters material

we use both combos, and they both look great. huge fan of nesting&cutting the white trans with a ~1/8" inline from the backside of the plexi so you don't have to trim after application. white polycarb behind clear works too but needs to be cleaned every cpl of years of bugs&grit that get...
  4. Glueing acrylic letters to wood

added tip, cause i'm here.... if you're dealing with thin-stroke lettering, lay a strip of vhb on some non-stick/vinyl backing & peel the tape's liner off as well. slice it up into 1/8"-1/4" tabs and plunk em on as you see fit. for the adhesive, I then fill the corner of a sandwich bag & clip...
  5. Glueing acrylic letters to wood

well its definitely not gonna be me. ...and tape doesn't work too good when you wet it with adhesive :)
  6. Glueing acrylic letters to wood

the VHB tape not only holds til the lexel/silicone cures, but it also creates a gap for a proper bead of the adhesive.
  7. Ceramic Coating Removal

yeah, you gotta buff it out. ceramic/hydrophobic coatings can withstand a thousand+ washes. youtube vid linked of a guy examining ceramic vs. new graphene products, but skip to 57min mark to see the chemical resistance tests... and then bonus test at the end, where he finally removes both...
  8. GBC Artic Titan 165 - Stop doesn't work - Safety sensors don't work - any help?

that's a blown capacitor rite there in the photo (left one swollen vs right one)
  9. How Is This Decal Made And Installed?

id bet its a thin polycarbonate layer or THICK laminate layer (potato, tomato) to protect against children picking/scratching the smaller decals.
  10. Merry Christmas! I finally bought a printer

congrats! HP is solid way to get your feet-wet. Don't be afraid to waste a bit of material to keep your leading-edge into if not past the heaters... my most frequent error is trying to start a print juuuust out past the pinch rollers and then when the media heats up it lifts and catches while...
  11. Sign Manufactures I have never seen them here, Why?

UL Mfg. here. No desire to be a wholesaler/vendor, just love nerding out over signs & sign tech in my freetime.
  12. Hi From Illinois, from a 3D Printing company looking at 2D Printers

HP & Mimaki are solid brands to pursue. While the HP would be the most user-friendly, I believe that your experience with 3D printing machines would make operating any solvent/UV/Latex fairly easy by comparison. i think you've got a solid reason to pursue the metallic w/ onboard cutter option...
  13. 3M Blue Tape alternative

oh god, if for tape hinging i don't use blue painter's tape at all.... waste of $$$ and tends to release at the wrong times. disregard my posts, thought OP was referring to paint mask alternatives :( for general purpose masking/applying, we use the 3M Yellow Tape that comes in the contractor's...
  14. 3M Blue Tape alternative

you pick your battles, but nuts & bolts add up... not trying to swap out bargain-bin crap vinyl here, or coro vs acrylic, but $5 vs $8/roll becomes hundreds/thousands to pad a departmental wishlist.
  15. 3M Blue Tape alternative

Menard's green painter's tape is cheaper and performs just as well. 2" rolls at $5 vs. $8 for 3M blue. amazon has a house-brand of blue tape at <$5ea, haven't tried it though.
  16. Thread tap acrylic

flat bottom tap or bust. you lose about 1/8"-3/16" of hole depth with those pointy-ones.
  17. JV3 can I print white ink?

the only person i know of on these forums, had frankenstein'd a jv3 to print homemade clear inks and operate as a flatbed, was artbot. so i can confirm, that anything is possible with the Jv3 with some ingenuity.....buuuut that was a decade ago, and he hasn't been on these forums in about as...
  18. JV3 can I print white ink?

white ink settles & you may have longterm issues with your lines & printhead getting gummed up. If you do make it work, you'll have to develop a process of stirring your ink supply regularly & also flushing out the entire channel when you don't expect to run white for more than a few days.
  19. High School outdoor sign ?

if anything else, people want that "cover" to protect it from cheese fries. 2nd surface UV print on clear acrylic could do the trick too
  20. High School outdoor sign ?

unless they wanna go super fancy with someting, typically these are just painted dibond panels or aluminum pans that are screwed/bolted to a wall with individual panels screwed/rivot'd onto the face that can be updated with vinyl graphics. ezpz. if desired, take it a step further with some...
