  1. Anyone have a roll of Grimcos Briteline Cast Matte Lam - OLWC-MAT54? I cleared out N/A

yet to confirm, but from appearance, and as odd as it sounds...smell, I've always assumed BL wrap vinyl was the same product as Arlon DPF 6000 & 3200series overlam.
  2. Printed Translucent Adhesive and old lightbox acrylic

i've done it plenty for cheap-o tenant updates... buuuut its not a great fix. the yellow will cast-thru. daytime clean & new, but antique-old illumination appearance. sometimes a good scrub of rapid remover and then isopropyl alcohol will take out the harsh burnt-yellow and leave more of a...
  3. 4 month old Mimaki problems

you can touch the head, as long as you realize how delicate it is. the goal is still to not touch the head, but rather scrub the vertical sides of it as part of regular "de-icicling" maintenance :)
  4. Need Help machine has stopped heating mimaki jv3

pretty sure that this is the first thread on this forum with portuguese.... especially with an english subject header, but hopefully you're available to translate for us once espanol threads start stacking up. appreciate the edited post, Robson. cables & fuses, easily traced from fans & heater...
  5. Roll-to-roll Printer with 98" or 100" width

grand format printer, is the term you're looking for
  6. Metallic Vinyl Stickers

agreed, but most people on these kinda threads are small potatoes operation and don't have the space available in their office for another footprint. still, print&cut machines are "just good enough" BUT my two plotters that run alongside my printer are almost 20yrs old and still pumping out cuts...
  7. Cut-out Letters on wall

zombie thread. thousands on videos available on youtube but i picked out one for ya.(linked with video for dimensional letter install)
  8. Arlon/Mactac Frosted Printed window films

i would guess that if you tried, the water/soap will soften the adhesive and get streaky or simply remain within the egress channels and never stick. I'm always a fan of thinking outside of the box, but when they specifically say to not wet apply, then its most likely because someone previously...
  9. replacement OEM parts v 3rd party

parts are parts, assuming you got the voltages/amps right. currently have a 120v fan i salvaged from an LED message center display exhausting the cabinet of my $100k CNC router , and another I bought at a MicroCenter for $40... else it was a $300 part from MultiCam. as far as printer parts, I...
  10. Horrifying and stuck on this logo

i'd ask him to provide an example of what his "leather or brass effect" appears like in a 2color tshirt print. I know what leather looks like, and brass too, but feel like applying that to a screenprint would be impossible without the shading effects of additional colors or a halftone. edited...
  11. Printer to make helmet decals

hot damn, this thread got me debating just pulling trigger on a 700/800W. Been wide format printing for two decades now, and have always wished I had white capability... even more and more with translucent prints. regarding your route to latex printing, you COULD still ditch the edge entirely...
  12. Printer to make helmet decals

niiiice. ya $22k is definitely a better option :) I'd be all over that 800W if I didn't just buy a brand new 365 last summer. still lacks metallics, but who cares really if you can simply use a metallic base vinyl when needed.
  13. Printer to make helmet decals

HP white ink comes via their R-series hybrid printers..... $100k is a bit steep and quite a large footprint in your shop for helmet decals. I heard that they'll have white options soon available for their waterfall-style printers, but I'm just making recommendations based on the OP. ps. LOVE my...
  14. Printer to make helmet decals

if you have ability to print white, when no major need to dwell on "chrome capability" as you can just use chrome media and print white&colors onto it. huge fan of HP latex, but they're lacking in the white/metallics realm at the moment..... I'd be looking at a mimaki CJV300+ with...
  15. DX4 Printhead

shoutout to solventinkjet, always been good to me.
  16. Looking to buy printer, 54”

no personal experience with the brand, but I see a lot more "help me" threads related to rolands than any other brands. ...could also just be due to their popularity, so I'm not gonna knock the brand based on randomly poor reviews, but I've always been a fan of mimaki in whatever realm that...
  17. How to properly align graphics on a car?

body lines aren't level they're square and should be followed
  18. High end artwork on Wood or Aluminum

+1 to suggestion above. direct print with a flatbed UV printer is the only way to go here. Unless you just print your decal with a faux-woodgrain or print onto a vinyl with a metallic finish/grain to fake it....but its never as good as the real thing.
  19. Printing a white box behind contour marks possible?

in a pinch, my workaround for registering cutter marks on colored stock vinyl is to put a piece of white/offwhite/yellow masking tape over it and trace the marks on top of it with a black/blue solvent pen. if it refuses to scan to the next mark, then connect the tabs you applied with a stretch...
