We always use pinstriping masking tape and hinge the stripe or apply wet and slide down to the tape. It's green tape available at body shops. 1/4 thick

If your trying for old style you got it. I would not change a thing, all fonts flow together ans are very compatible. Each font grabs my attention and makes me really read the sign. I love it now leave it alone

Don't do this! If you want sign to fail within short time than go ahead. We use semigloss or gloss latex, if rolled with foam or sprayed it will hold vinyl and outlast enamels.
