  1. Printing Shiny (Glossy) on Matte paper

its my understanding that ALL inks print "glossy".... its the nature of a liquid's surface tension being laid onto a surface. lamination is what determines your finish, unless your printer has the ability to print clear atop your color.
  2. Refilling flushing liquid cartridges

used to fill these all the time with my homebrew cleaner. bigger syringe is all that really helps. you don't want to go too big of a needle, or chance ruining the seal. trying to setup some contraption for an IV drip direct to machine is silly, just stick with what works and pour yourself a...
  3. Taking the next step in printers...

top two directions on my wishlist, after recent pre-covid ISA show, were the HP R1000/2000 and AFGA's Jet Mira for their own reasons. Loved the HP and its white ink capability, and the design that allows the white printhead to be disconnected, and placed in a rotating drum , while the white ink...
  4. WTF (What the Frosting)

yup. definitely a layer of dusted/frosted/etched/etc on both sides of the glass. easy enough to quote for the 2x and figure out the details/design prior to production
  5. WTF (What the Frosting)

    pics, or it never happened.
  6. color washed on mutoh same print file? have to reprint entire truck... help!

pics, or it didn't happen. test print may yield that your Cyan has some issues. even though you might not see any banding, if you're running with any% deflected nozzles then your colors will be slightly off.
  7. Printing and cutting on imitation large engine turned gold

it can tell the difference, but metallics and reflectives have an issue scanning because the light gets scattered/garbled between the laser/surface/photoeye and throws random fits.... i just throw a piece of white masking tape on the marks and redraw the line with a pen and it scans just fine...
  8. Need Help Looking for used MIMAKI Cutter 53"

mimaki cg130fx's are $7k new. Used ones going for at least $2500, even one posted here in july...shipping not included. anything less, you've got a steal.
  9. Is there another option similar to Lords 406 Adhesive?

Ellsworth Adhesives has multiple locations in CA, and distributes Lord's. Even if you want to branch-away from Lord's, their tech guys are pretty nerdy when it comes to adhesives and can proly walk you through options they carry.
  10. Is there another option similar to Lords 406 Adhesive?

plenty of adhesive suppliers deal with Lord's, does your supplier have an alternative that made them stop carrying it? imho, Lord's kicks ass. we've dabbled in other brands, like but my guys have always liked the 403/406 better.
  11. Old but New

quick google search yields result for dTech Group, which services mimaki printers in your area. considering covid madness, i'm sure you can arrange for a service which allows a tech to walk you through the install & alignment remotely via video chat, to expedite your printhead replacement (which...
  12. Discussion What is different?

drones? sooo 2019 next step for Amazon is to provide a headset that the user wears which places them in a dreamlike state, while a remote operator (or A.I.) controls their body and completes the service with journeymen expertise. "some assembly required" suddenly becomes a day at the beach!
  13. Question Plastic Extrusion

pics, or it never happened. otherwise, my guess is thermoformed polycarbonate.
  14. Is hp 792 and 789 latex ink similar and used on L26500 ?

cross-platform consumables is nowhere close to HP's business model. even if it were the exact same ink & cartridge, they will surely program it into the chip to be rejected by the priner.
  15. LED halo lighted interior signs

not a fan of time clocks, the client rarely remembers how to reset for daylight savings and/or wants it on 20hrs of the day and, much like a computer, turning it on/off for just a few hours of downtime is actually more stressful on the system than simply leaving it on. a physical switch on the...
  16. News What do you think about the current votes...

I have a feelin' it will boil-down to the eventual recount in Wisconsin. This will soon shape-up to be the most expensive election in U.S. History, just to elect the oldest President in U.S. History.
  17. Someone just sent me this...logo?

Looks good guys! We like your 5th layout revision, but we emailed the design to your competitor down the street and he said he would do it for $100 less since I provided him artwork & specs. You don't mind if I use your bathroom do ya? Are these extra rolls of toilet paper complimentary?
  18. HP 560 Latex vinyl waste

my workaround for load/feed limitations, is to simply save your scraps and tape them onto the leading/trailing edge. then you can flip the script, and declare how much $$$ you're actually saving annually, with a little bit of DIY.
  19. HP 560 Latex vinyl waste

yeah i definitely miss my old jv3 for this reason. used to be able to treat the printer like a plotter in the sense of loading any size piece of scrap vinyl and even covering the media-in sensor with a piece of tape to be able to print until the pinch wheels were no longer able to hold on...
  20. Vehicle Wrap Failure on Sharp Curves

Stretched cast vinyl, is basically calendared vinyl. after stretching/shrinking/applying those curves, the vinyl that extends-past the complicated curves needs to be lifted&heated as to allow the vinyl to shrink back to its "cast-state" before finishing application & trimming/tiling. If the...
