  3. PITA customer - need a favor from a couple of you

I don't think the OP was looking for a critique on the design... just what we thought he should charge for his design time to try to recoup what he has into the job. He should get as much as he possibly can. Personally, I think $1200-1500 is a stretch of anyone's realistic expectations. I have...
  4. New position and re-location

I have re-located to the Columbia, SC area. I accepted a position with SightLine Sign and Graphics in West Columbia. They brought me on board to utilize my vast experience in the trade and to elevate their business to another level. The owners, Richard and Kitty Larson, have done very well for...
  5. New Shop Car Wrap!!

I find the color combination to be very attractive. It is definately not one might see often. It is very tasteful but still say "look at me!" Well executed.
  6. Some old design work from school :)

Interesting work... I like the retro feel on some of those.
  7. Sign companies raping other sign companies

Yeah, maybe, but I have more hair... LOL!
  8. Daige solo 38"

John, I didn't have many problems with mine, either. It was a cheap basic no frills laminator. It is just very limited. That being said, having used other laminators, the ease of use and time saved is going to make up the difference in cost. The bigger size will be a boon in the future when you...
  9. Daige solo 38"

Look into buying a used laminator. There are plenty of used units available. The 38" is not going to be fill your future needs... why spend the money on it now only to be stuck with a laminator no one is going to want later? I had a Daige laminator. The sled thing sucks. If you are going to...
  10. Sign companies raping other sign companies

Dave Darlak... Love the way you think, Brother. Why does anyone think that they have any sort of right to dictate what the other guy should make for a living? I just quoted some design work for a sign company in Arizona. The owner told me she found my terms unacceptable. Cripes, all I did was...
  11. Logo critique

    Exactly.
  12. Reflective contour cutting

I tried the lights trick already... I will the white vinyl and the yellow box trick. Thanks for the replies!
  13. Reflective contour cutting

We have an FC8000 cutter with the optical sensing unit for contour cutting. The problem we are having is cutting contours on reflective vinyl. Sometimes the unit sees the registration marks and sometimes an error message stating sensing marks are not being seen. I have tried turning the...
  14. No Jerks on the Job

I looked over the first couple pages... it has piqued my interest. Thanks for the heads up.
  15. Our Logo...

It's the rock shots that really hurt. Welcome from Minnesota... donchaknow.
  16. Thoughts On This Logo Concept?

There is a world of difference between honest opinions and just being a jerk.
  17. HP L25500 Pros and Cons?

We use the HP latex printer with a Caldera RIP. The RIP runs the HP as well as our VersaCamm. You can also run a Graphtec cutter from it but it does have it's quirks. The Cutting Master 2 software from Graphtec seems to work just fine. The HP latex is awesome for banners. We run a lot of 13 oz...
  18. Casmate... do you remember how to load fonts

The fonts have to be loaded when the program is set up. If you run set up there will be a default font folder (casfonts) set up in the file directory. However, you need to specify which fonts you want to install. It is not an automatic install. I just installed CASmate on Win 7 Pro 64 bit...
  19. Why is x5 so cheap on ebay?

Just as a heads up... For those that buy Educational copies of software, be advised that if you do get caught you can be subject to fines and such. A colleague of mine was caught during an inspection by the BSA (Business Software Alliance) and fined for having Educational versions of CS4 and...
  20. New trick at gas stations

I bought one of those little 12 volt air pumps to do Go Kart tires for my Shriners Unit. It worked so good, I went and bought my own. Fits real nice in the storage area of my HHR panel. I have used it many times on my wife's PT Cruiser. Those dang aluminum rims just don't hold air.
