  1. File Management

Unless you want to pay a monthly fee for a static IP address from your ISP and setup a NAS server, any cloud service is going to be more convenient and probably cheaper. I see a lot of sign guys using Drop Box and Google Drive.
  2. File Management

If I was running a shop right now I would probably have a similar setup to WildWest. I am the crazy uncle type who doesn't like giving major corporations my files to snoop around in. To add to what WildWest said, I would also archive older files to free up space and reduce confusion. Basically...
  3. Graphtec FC8600-160 Hangnails Driving Me Nuts!!!

It looks like your offset setting is way off. Offset is not a trial and error settings. It is an exact setting specific to the angle of the blade you are using. If it is anything other than what the blade manufacturer states it is, that is your problem.
  4. Need Help service mode protected?

If you don't do the whole sequence within about 5 seconds it fails. Also, maybe one of the buttons is not pushing as well as it should?
  5. How to return Roland Printer

How can it be out of their hands when their name is "Up and Running Solutions"!
  6. Need Help Where can I sell used printers

Most are going to be paid other than craigslist which is where we sell most of ours. Global Garage is a good place to go for a paid option. It is specifically for used printers and sign equipment. Other than that Ebay works as well. Signs101 also has a member to member classifieds section...
  7. How to return Roland Printer

Most states have lemon laws that require manufacturers to either repair, replace, or refund you in the event that the machine doesn't work out of the box. It normally requires you to show that you gave a reasonable amount of time for them to fix it. If you can't get a hold of Roland you might...
  8. Phototex on sloped wall/ceiling

Have you thought about a regular wall vinyl rather than phototex? All of our lobby signage is printed on Mojave Sign Ad and applied to sheet rock walls. They say it easily removes up to a year but we test it every year and it comes off no problem. It has also stuck to the wall for many many years...
  9. Software Help PC advice to run Rasterlink with 6 colour printer.

I am a computer geek and love to build rigs as powerful as I can. That being said, since Rasterlink has an immediate print option it doesn't require a super computer. I would not go any lower than 8GB of RAM and would much prefer 16GB if your budget allows. 16GB is more than enough to RIP any...
  10. Where can I learn about the different use cases for substrates?

Didn't you know? Everyone in this industry knows everything already and never had to learn. It was downloaded into our brains at birth! All jokes aside, your neighborhood vinyl and substrate dealer is your best bet. As a dealer we have an incentive to educate our customers. The more products...
  11. Question UCJV300 white ink cracking

Can't say that I have seen this happen on our demo unit. Did the tech mention anything about ink curing? I am thinking maybe the lamps need to be adjusted so that the ink cures properly.
  12. Suggestions mid range flatbed printer

Checkout the Mimaki JFX200. The info FatCat gave is pretty much spot on except the pricing on flatbeds has changed pretty drastically in the last few years. The Mimaki JFX200 goes for around $70k and there is a special going on right now for free shipping which saves you about $1000. The pros...

  14. Upgrading from VS540i to Truevis VG-54

I was thinking SG but both are more expensive than the CJV150 though.
  15. Upgrading from VS540i to Truevis VG-54

When it was released in America it had tons of issues. As stated above a lot of them were ironed out over time. This machine has a weird effect on people. Some people will die before they let any bad press about it get out for some reason. Brand loyalty maybe? My opinion is that it's way over...
  16. Y Axis Encoder Failure

I have never seen that printer in real life but look for a strip of clearish plastic that runs the length of the Y bar. That plastic strip is read by the sensor. Follow that to the sensor.
  17. A new product offering to add perhaps?

  18. Mix coolant

To cool the lamps. Even LED UV requires coolant.
  19. Why these EMF Files don't retain their size?

I have been using Mimaki FineCut for about 10 years and I have no idea what a EMF file is. Is that a Corel thing? Normally you don't even need to save a file to cut from it. It should just cut straight from Corel without saving a file.
  20. Managing a linked OLE spreadsheet in Flexi

So if I am understanding correctly you basically want to print a large version of the spreadsheet? Have you tried exporting as a PDF yet? If you can't export as PDF most software has a print to PDF option as well. Once it's a PDF the text should be vector which will allow infinite expansion...
