  1. How do you structure your pricing for vehicle magnets?

I work for a sign supply place and I based it off what we charge our customers for supplies. I get that there are other overhead costs I just didn't realize what kind of margins you guys are getting. On my end of the industry getting a 30% margin on anything is rough let alone 1000%. I'm not...
  2. How do you structure your pricing for vehicle magnets?

That's a 1000% mark up with my local pricing for magnet, vinyl and ink. Am I on the wrong side of the business? Are people really paying $90 for 2 magnet? If so, I'm starting a shop.
  3. Suggestions What vinyl to use for printed door graphics

Arlon DPF-4600GLX and 3220 Laminate will work great and should cost fairly lower than 3M. Since you aren't doing a full wrap using cast vinyl is going overboard in my opinion. The 4600GLX is a high quality calendared vinyl and with the 3220 lam it stabilizes which prevents shrink and roll. You...
  4. Ink Fill??

It's all about how the damper and maintenance station work together to keep ink flowing to the head. The damper's job is to keep ink flowing to the head during printing, to filter the ink, and to keep the ink from dropping out of the head while idle. Think about how when you were a kid and you...
  5. Ink Fill??

I haven't seen a nozzle check in this thread. If there was one I bet it would be missing most of the magenta, cyan and black. If the dampers have ink in them and there ware no air bubbles in the lines, either the maintenance station is not working properly or the head is majorly clogged. It...
  6. matching color from a photo

I wish there was a tool that took a sample of a an area of pixels instead of just one pixel for this reason. It still wouldn't be perfect but taking multiple samples and averaging them would seem to work better. Edit: Looks like I missed vector doctor's comment. I learned something new today!
  7. Printed colors don't match sample

What exactly do you do when you create a sample print? Tell us the process and it will be easier to figure out where something might have gone wrong.
  8. Mimaki CG-130 FX II plotter - how to start without filling the floor ?

Something doesn't sound right because if it was looking for registration marks that aren't there it should fail, and give "error 36 Mark Detect", when it can't find the first one and not continue further. Make sure you are selecting roll and not leaf when it asks you. If you hit leaf it will...
  9. cricut over a graphtec!!!

    Same difference am I right!
  10. cricut over a graphtec!!!

Graphtec makes the Cameo which is a competitor to the Cricut.
  11. Question Print 2 print/cut jobs at once?

If they are the same job just duplicated then you can just open the job in production manager, set the quantity to 2 and then when you set your crop marks make sure to select the "individual" option rather than "whole" this will put a set of marks around each copy. You will have to send the job...
  12. Question Mimaki JFX200-2513 Registration off when printing white

If the misalignment is in the print head travel direction, you just need to run the drop position alignment in the adjust menu. If it is in the up and down direction then you need to run the stagger adjustment in service mode.
  13. New Print Technology

I can see a fine art reproduction house being interested in this type of printing. High quality print with simulated paint brush texture could be a hot seller. How do they create the texture map? Is it done automatically?
  14. 3m, Avery, Techwrap, Vvivid charging for sample books

As a dealer most of my suppliers give us a certain amount of free swatch books based on our sales and then we can buy more if needed. I tend to give them out to my best customers because they actually use them. If I gave one out to every person who buys vinyl I would go broke. Most of the time I...
  15. Need Help Is my head gone?

Dampers and cap tops are regular maintenance items that many people ignore. Any time you experience ink flow issues that is the place to start. If you want to avoid issues in the future and allow the head to last as long as possible, change the dampers and cap tops once per year.
  16. Question motuh rj900 media slant

You probably need to change the dampers. It sounds like it's just not keeping good ink flow.
  17. Roland SP 540 Fan Junction Board - part #876705040

Unfortunately I am super unfamiliar with that particular part on this machine. If I had to guess that board looks like a junction board and probably doesn't actually do anything other than extend the cable to where ever it needs to go. On most machines I work on the fans are connected to either...
  18. Roland SP 540 Fan Junction Board - part #876705040

It's located in the red circle in my image labeled #20. It looks like a very small board that is attached to the Y bar.
  19. Need Help Valuejet 1624X ink not flowing

Mutoh recommends changing the maintenance station once per year which almost no one ever does. I would start with changing the cap top and while you are in there flush the pump tubes. This normally will get you back up and running. The older the maintenance station gets however, the more likely...
  20. mutoh 1204 printer head is clogged

I would flush the old manifold before putting it on the newer head. If there are clogs in it that should clear it out. Better to start fresh!
