The first thing to check is that the head memory cable is plugged in and in good condition. I usually see a lot of ink building up on those boards and cables over the years and it can short it out.
If that cable looks good, unfortunately you probably have some electrical issues. I would check...
The printer has no way of knowing if ink is in the damper. The ink level sensor detects when the cartridge is empty. If the cartridge is full and reads empty, the sensor is probably broken. Once a cartridge reads empty, it will always read empty. You will need to check the sensor to see if it is...
Yeah material used will definitely change the way things wear. Looks like a few option above. I would be interested if a machine shop could do it. Didn't even think of it!
DX7 heads are rated at 6 billion fires. Usually magenta and yellow will be the first to hit that mark. Judging by your service report, that machine is on it's original heads. I see these heads last anywhere from 3 to 10 years depending on use with the average being about 4 - 5 years. The test...
Just remember, when you get this procedure done by anyone other than Mutoh, you are technically receiving pirated software. You can decide on the morality of it all yourself but you should know that anyone who does this procedure outside of Mutoh is doing it illegally.
I don't doubt you have had a good experience with the machine but the VG series has a max speed of 375sqft/hr and the RF has 521. The objective fact is that the speed and resolution specs are significantly lower which is why in my opinion it is a step backwards especially since they are selling...
Internal errors are errors that happen due to a mix of hardware and software glitches that aren't particular to a certain printer function or part. In other words, they can happen randomly due to natural computer processing errors and not be a big deal or they can be a sign that either the...
Grit rollers are sort of seen as lifetime parts from the manufacturer's point of view. I have been fixing machines for over 10 years and I have never seen one replaced on any brand or model machine. The manufacturers know this so they don't stock them and have to order them from Asia and wait...
The Vs and RS use the same heads and are good machines. The VG series, although it is a newer model, uses Ricoh heads that print slower and lower resolution than the Vs and RF series. That's why I said it's a step back. It's a newer model but uses cheaper technology.
Turn the vacuum all the way up and load the material as straight as possible. If your pinch rollers are older, they may be worn unevenly which causes buckling as well. At the end of the day, if the vinyl and backer you are using are very thin you might not be able to avoid all buckling.
I would say contaminated vinyl and/or heat settings are too high causing buckling which will cause this type of effect. Try turning the heat down and see if you can get it to lay flat while printing.
A properly working damper should be about half full. Just so you know for the future. You are getting cross contamination which could be a couple things. If the cap top is 3rd party that's where I would suspect the issue. We have gone through multiple suppliers for the 3rd cap tops and pretty...
This is a fairly common issue with ValueJets. The lock mechanism is sort of flimsy and bends over time which causes it to not unlock properly. You can test this idea by taping the lock down and running the machine. If it works fine, you probably just need to bend the lock bracket back into place.
When this problem persists even after changing cap tops and dampers, either there is an air leak somewhere in the ink system (especially if you use a bulk system, or there could also be damage inside the print head. I always check the ink cartridge to make sure it's not empty and not flagging...
I'm sure YouTube has some videos on the topic. It's not too hard but you want to do it right. See if you can get your hands on a tech manual and it will have the instructions in there.
When a certain color drops out during printing it's almost always a failing damper or bad connection between the ink line and damper. Dampers are maintenance items and should be changed at least once every 2 years but I would change them once a year if I ran a machine. Most people just ignore...
