  1. Opos reads registration marks but is off on cutlines

Yep; that's doable. Also ask them about adjusting the sensitivity, in addition to the CAL-OPOS routine. Best, Jim
  2. Opos reads registration marks but is off on cutlines

Hi Roen, Is your Summa (I assume Gerber branded) based on the prior SummaSign Pro or the newer Summa S Class? I ask because it makes a major difference if your OPOS is the 2.0 or newer X edition. If 2.0, you'll have a more challenging task when using many laminates, especially matte. The X...
  3. Opos reads registration marks but is off on cutlines

Check with their support: 800.323.5766, I think. The main line can get you there too, at 800.527.7778. They should have tips for matte laminate. And, yep, that's most likely the source of the problem. If not, Summa techs should know what is and how to resolve it. Matte, especially...

  5. VersaWorks & Summacut

Oops, missed the last question, in re: other suggestions. I really don't think so. SummaCut-R is in a price-range with most name-brand cutters. And it comes in all the popular widths (previously only 24 and 48). Plus the accuracy and automation is more than icing on the cake. It's mission...

  7. VersaWorks & Summacut

My pleasure. No OPOS X-buying in my past, I'm sorry to say. But much OPOS X-selling :^) I was VP of Summa for a dozen or so years. My experience with Graphtec, aside from competing with them for nearly all of those years, came when I was VP Marketing at SignWarehouse .. #1 Graphtec dealer on...
  8. VersaWorks & Summacut

Addenduum: With laminated prints, OPOS X is a must. (It uses a white light scanner) The older OPOS and OPOS 2.0 uses red light scanners that don't read thorugh lamination for beans. They were originally designed for Thermal Transfer prints, which aren't laminated very often. So...
  9. VersaWorks & Summacut

Hi Marshall, SummaCut (new ones with OPOS X) is the bomb. Reeeeeal accurate. And very automated when it comes to batch cutting or contour-cut + perf-cutting. Highly recommend it. But I don't think VW supports OPOS, since Roland would essentially promote its competition if it did. So...
  10. print & cut outline issues

It depends on which program you use. Newer versions of CorelDRAW have a contour feature that'll outline groups of objects. However, I've always found it quicker to make a copy in place (+) and weld it (click weld icon). Best, Jim
  11. Is there anyway to cut a jpg in flexi?

Ohhhhh! My mistake, too. Jim (embarrassed/red-faced)
  12. Is there anyway to cut a jpg in flexi?

http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35258 Doctor Vector. Add "vector conversion" as a line item on your bill ... padding DV's charge by 50%. Then make money on the vectorizing and your sign :^) Just a thought. Jim
  13. EternalSoul Studios

Hi Greg, Spam or not, I think you might want to rethink your Web site. I spent a good 10 - 15 seconds looking at the home page and I have no idea what your company is or does. The rule of thumb is that it should never take more than 4 seconds for a Man From Mars to understand what you offer...
  14. Pantone matching for digital printing

More on shape trumps ... OK; so now we know it's a tree, due to its shape and because it's within the bounds of a fairly broad tonal range. So we begin accruing all the brand attributes: - Shading (keeps me cool on a hot day) - Fun (I can climb it and swing from its branches) - Leafy...
  15. Pantone matching for digital printing

Hi Astro, But then, what PMS green do you need before your mind registers, "oh; it's a tree" ...? How accurate must the green be? And when the leaves turn yellow, then orange is there any confusion as to whether it's a tree? Does if help if the yellow is Pantone XXX and the Orange is...

  18. Pantone matching for digital printing

We avoided many a question, going both ways. But if we're keeping track, which color makes you feel Volvo cars are safe? As far as acceptable, too subjective. I gotta go with I don't know. But it's pretty broad if the measure is effectiveness. Retail packaging competes on a shelf with...
  19. Pantone matching for digital printing

Gross buddy, 21+ M BPS, which in 1987 was north of $33 million ... scroll back some pages. Gotta compare apples to apples. For fuzzy math, you only need to go up a couple posts. 43% growth is not ~50%, even with the US-CDN exchange rate :^) Also, not growth so much as grafting-on. Gretag...
  20. Pantone matching for digital printing

Oops, missed one: Yes, to overkill. Too much emphasis is placed on it -- in corporate / marketing communication. Packaging? Not overkill. Thus my belief they're still viable in manufacuring. -J
