One locally with a truckload of foils, with plotter, just sold for $3000.
  2. Quick, simple, effective marketing ideas?

This actually came up because I'm getting burned out on this business. I'm making good money, it's just the same old crap over and over. I'm letting things ride until January 1. By then I fully intend to have a new plan and take the shop in a new direction. The simple, cheap, effective idea...
  3. I'm running this ad in the World Series Program

Regardless of whatever the "deal" is that ad looks like crap. Sorry, just how I see it. The "washed out" fireworks background with the magic perspective photo and the 30 lines of slanted copy all SCREAM 1986. I almost expected the guy in the photo to be Max Headroom.
  4. HELP!! What are these font's names?

    Zapf Chancery - INFINITY DENTAL
  5. Quick, simple, effective marketing ideas?

We've always used U-Line because I can order at 5:00 today and ground shipping will get them to me tomorrow. Blueben's link to Paper Mart looks like their prices are lower, I'll have to look into that.
  6. Quick, simple, effective marketing ideas?

Here's one from today. The box for this one will probably get tossed so we won't get much out of it, though. For convention banners and annual event banners they work out great though.
  7. Temporary paint for glass

TEMPERA if he wants to just hose it off later. Rich Art window paint hoses off after you spray it with ammonia. Regular oil based enamel actually comes off with a razor blade pretty easilly. I'd stay away from a latex, that stuff just turns to powder when you try to scrape it.
  8. Quick, simple, effective marketing ideas?

We attach decals vertically on both ends so that no matter which way they roll it up it shows. Our decals are 3/4" x 3" and fit nicely on the hems. We also have a bunch of 1/4" x 3" strips that we stick on the back of coro and pvc signs.
  9. Quick, simple, effective marketing ideas?

It rarely gets discussed around here anymore so I thought I'd start a new thread for it. Sure, we've all seen the 2000 posts about wrapping the shop truck and painting the building....I'm looking for something different. What are some cheap/free yet effective marketing ideas you've discovered...
  10. 05 f150 full wrap price question

I've been missing the Mosh drinkin', drivin', shootin', and screwin' stories. Don't sweat what you didn't make on the wrap. Just make damn sure your buddy knows how much it should have cost and to make sure he knows that the price he paid is just between you and him.
  11. What should I be making? Graphics Dept Head

Around here that MIGHT get you $14 an hour.
  12. Merchant Warning - Killer Graphics

can anybody recommend another wholesale printer
  13. what is this business coming to

There are already shops doing almost "while you wait" sign work. Customer comes in, sits down at a design station with a "designer", scroll through ready to use templates until a shape catches their eye, the text gets entered, the colors get selected, then it's sent directly to the flatbed...
  14. hmmmm...am i being scammed?

It's sad that people actually do still fall for these scams. I was talking to a friend of mine a few weeks ago and he was telling me about a shop in South Alabama that just closed because they got taken on one of these orders for t-shirts and decals and it completely ruined them.
  15. Scared of heights? Step ladders make you nervous?

So....let's say you've got to go to the bathroom....
  16. Scared of heights? Step ladders make you nervous?

I've had a guy who changes the bulbs (much shorter towers) tell me one time that it's no big deal. You just focus on the steps you're making and only pay attention to the foot and handholds right in front of you. The steps you make at 200' are the same ones you make at 10'. I mentioned to him...
  17. Scared of heights? Step ladders make you nervous?

How about climbing a 1700 foot tower without using safety gear? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRIbo7cvmQs&feature=player_embedded#!
  18. Fear of falling: safety on ladders?

Scaffolding. You want to letter 53 trailers from walkboards go right ahead but personally I'd work out a way to use scaffolding before I ever got started.
  19. Shipping banners, Worried about them being crimped up

I do the same thing Bob does. It's amazing how much mileage I've gotten out of providing storage/shipping tubes with banners. They're dirt cheap but they make one heck of an impression. Plus, like Bob said, it's a nice place to stick your logo.
