  1. Eliminating white background out of a bitmap file

Not sure you can fix it in Flexi. If Flexi has a tracing option, trace them to create vector files, and then remove the white area. if you have access to Illustrator it is a super easy fix.
  2. Back from vacation!

In that case then....nope :) Spent most of my time in the casino on the ship. Went to the beach once. Water was FREEZING.
  3. Back from vacation!

Ummm....What are we talking about Gino? :) My wife was with me, so in that sense....yes.
  4. Back from vacation!

Thanks ladies :) Yes, it was a much needed vacation - although the pile of stuff i came back to this morning has been no fun to sift through.. Ugh.
  5. Back from vacation!

Hey everyone! Back here in dreary Ohio from the sunny Caribbean. Had a great week of vacation - now I have to get back to work!
  6. this is so typical of the sign biz

I would have told him $2k, period. Once he picked his jaw up, I'd have given him the real price. These bozos want you to jump through hoops that are on fire, and do it for nothing. No thanks.
  7. Making countour of .jpeg/bitmap???

You want the contour cut, right? Not just to remove the background, but to create a cut-line? It's easy - time consuming, but easy. You need to draw the cut-line.
  8. Any Takers ?

    Gotta love morons :)
  9. Banner Printing

That's a FANTASTIC idea Wayne. I've been baning my head against the wall with cores too long on banner material. And it isn't just Fellers. Grimco does it too. I've been bitching to them that they need to put a note in their catalogs saying that their banner material is nto compatible with the...
  10. wrap removal pricing

Also - unless this is a SUPER customer - if the vehicle is being stripped at THEIR site, then get a retainer up front. If it is being stripped at your site - don't let it out the door until you're paid.
  11. Wine Logo

That is honest to god awful. I drink wine. I wouldn't touch something that looked like that. The picture of the grapes is blown out badly, especially when compared tot he sharpness of the vector objects in the design. Read some design books. Tell the customer that if they want to "help" over...
  12. Where do you get the Digital LED Signs?

You need to work directly with the manufacturer. We deal exclusively with Watchfire. www.watchfiresigns.com You will need to contact them, give them your business info, and then they will get their regional guy with you. Best product on the market, IMO.
  13. Wrap Which material might be suitable?

I say this about once/week it seems like... 3551 is not meant for compound curves. If you are wrapping anything other than a panel van, box truck, or semi-trailer, 3551 is NOT the right material to use. Can you "get away" with it? Maybe - if your installers REALLY know what they are doing. But...
  14. Wine Logo

Jill and rjpjr have given you some good ideas with their takes here. At the end of the day, a design project needs to be completed swith the CONSUMER in mind, NOT the business owner. Wine is considered somewhat of a niche, luxury item (with the exception of Boone's Farm and Two Buck Chuck)...
  15. et tu local screenprinter?

Mosh, Not all of us are cut-throat bastards like you :) LOL Wholesale has been very good for us. Like it or not, there are many wholesale only companies out there (Merritt, Typestries, Indy-Imaging, DPS, etc.) and if my competition doesn't have in-house printing capabilities, then they are...
  16. et tu local screenprinter?

I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. Vendors who sell retail and wholesale AT THE SAME PRICE should never be trusted. We are a retail sign shop. We also do a decent amount of business (probably 20-30% of our overall revenue) in wholesale work to local (for the most part...
  17. Who is responsible for pulling a sign permit

Whomever is doing the install should pull the permits (if you are usig a sub for install, then you should pull permits).
  18. How would you make these signs?

Digital print all the way. Lam, apply, done. Way faster (and therefore cheaper) than doing cut vinyl. I'd do it full bleed, one piece.
  19. Does anyone use this INK??

ROFL....Talk about BLATANT self promotion. Fred - is there anything you can do about this? LOL
