  1. Thick & thin

It's not Motter Femina (or however you spell it) but try Myfonts.com and look for that font, then click on "more like this" You can type in just the digits you need. Love.....Jill

Virtual visual Visene. All clean. All cool. The hockey one is my fave. Love.....Jill
  3. New logo

I know it's cheesy but it's somewhat iconic.
  4. Give Up Hire a Professional

I quit AIP in a snit just because after two quarters they were still pushing kids through who hadn't a clue, but had the $$ (or were provided the $$ by the gov't) to pay for classes. In my class, there were maybe 4 other kids beside me who had any real ability. You either have it or you don't...
  5. New logo

Glad you lost the triangle idea. But your last one has little or no contrast on the name (can't read it from the thumbnail) It pretty much looks (still) like typed text. I hate the angled certified installers part. And your font choices are just meh. And as much as I loathe the old done to death...
  6. Hello from upstate New York

Welcome from PA. Your story sounds very similar to mine, except I started in 85 and still use a brush now and then and I don't print stuff. But I had the 4B till last year and now I use a Graphtec. Love.....Jill.
  7. New logo

For starters, I have been taught since I was in grade school art class never to use that shade of red with that shade of blue. It makes the eyeballs vibrate. Beyond that, it is a jumbled mess of boring fonts, bad kerning, icky diamond plate, and just bad in general. It reads oddly and is very...
  8. Shout out to Mike at Supersigns.biz

You beat me to it, Heath. Two scripts in the same layout and one of them Brush! Love.....Jill

Here's a Facebook link for those of you who are into that sort of thing: http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=157580114288939 If you are planning on going as an artist you should contact the gal who's running this so you can get in Friday at 9am.
  10. How many of you do work for Fire and Emergency?

I've done work for a lot of local fire companies. There's a sign shop near me (and they do nice work!) which specializes in this. So I don't like to tap their market unless my locals ask me. I do both paint and sign gold, and very rarely, gilding. Sometimes it's like pulling teeth to get...
  11. Al Checca

Good to hear from you, Al baby. Was wondering how you were doing. That has to be some hard times dealing with your mom. Chin up old pal.
  12. Pittsburgh WOW

Can't remember why I didn't do it. I think it was when we were in Altoona? Sorry for letting you down. Here are a few pix from previous years WOW.
  13. How did you get into sign making?

I think it's been asked before, and I think I've answered. Too lazy to type it all out again and can't find it via search. In my 26th year of sign making. Still learn something new every day. Love....Jill
  14. Pittsburgh WOW

Just a bump to the top for anyone wanting to come and paint with us.
  15. Hello Everyone

Welcome from a PA hand painter. The best way to get your feet wet is to attend a Letterhead meet. Future meets are usually listed in SignCraft magazine. Pierre Tardif is having a handlettering bootcamp in Quebec City this spring. It's about $500 but you would learn from one of the coolest and...
  16. Crest Design

He lusted after that font cuz it's a 70s porno font. He must have been subliminally reminded about the good times at the old drive in. It's kind of like using Chinet with a linen tablecloth. It's good to see that you are practicing on your own with nicer fonts, even if it's a done deal...
  17. Nerves, kids, snow & an auction

Really glad you got it! That will look nice with a new coat of paint. I'm going to the auction on Saturday. I really need a new bed and there's a nice depression era one. Also some occupied Japan colonial figure knick knacks, my secret love.
  18. Business Card Layout

I actually liked it as was. I wouldn't put the email addy on it just the website. Maybe dry a deep orange "glow" effect around the name. Might make it pop more. Love....Jill
  19. Pittsburgh WOW

http://www.autorama.com/casi/show/spectator/pittsburgh.php It's a fun time. I had to miss it last year. Kris Letang will be there Friday night....I hope my ride lets me stay that late. (I don't drive much down town)
  20. Pittsburgh WOW

No not the Steelers and after the Winter Classic, not the Pens (for now) I am talking about the Pittsburgh World of Wheels auto show at the David L. Lawrence convention Center starting next Friday. Anybody going? I will be there pretending to be a pinstriper. Love.....Jill
