Try out James McGill at 270 243-0599. He is an independent tech and works a large area. He is not affiliated with us but we have used him for service calls in that area.
It's a good machine especially at the price point. I have a few customers who run them and they like them a lot. There is some maintenance you need to be aware of and if you have a good dealer, their tech should go through that with you. If I were opening a shop and had the money for a flatbed...
I have a few on hand that may work for you. If you pay shipping I'll give them to you. Feel free to contact us. I am out on service calls today but anyone here can help you.
With all of the posts about dealer competing with their customers recently, this is a perfect example of a manufacturer going around their own dealers. See! It's happening to us too!
Your tech doesn't sound that great to be honest. You can't tell if one channel is firing from looking at the cap top! And you can't see a specific color flow when doing a cleaning cycle! You can tell on a brand new cap top but as soon as any other amount of ink flows through they all get mixed...
If you get an OEM one you don't have to punch the holes and it should be very easy to change. The only ones you have to cut to to length and punch holes are the after market ones. Just make sure to take any protective film off before install and wear rubber gloves to prevent finger grease...
The memory is failing. I don't know if the memory is replaceable on that machine so you just need to find out if it is and where you can pick up the same type. If it isn't replaceable you will have to replace the main board most likely.
I think the net tool is supposed to be able to see the printer no matter how your network is setup. That's the weird thing. The advice I gave you is how I normally do it on printers that don't use the Net tool and should work as well.
Once you can connect to the Roland you should be able to use the Net tool to change it's IP address to match the other devices. Then just set your computer IP address back to what it was and everything should work. Also, make sure your firewall or anti virus isn't blocking the connection.
Ok so you need to change your computer's IP address to 192.168.1. anything other than 150 and below 254. Then you should be able to connect if the IP address reset on the printer. And no, you can't see the IP address on the SP540 in the menus because they wanted to make you work for it!
I'm honestly not sure how long to hold the button but it's less than 30 seconds I would say. The amber blinking light just means it's connected to a 100mb connection and the green light being off means it's not a gigabit connection which is normal. What is your computer's IP address?
Oh ok. Either should work. Managed just gives you more options to control how things connect and has better monitoring capabilities where as the regular switch simply connects devices.
In your case you could probably go with anything and it will work for you. If you just need internet and to connect to the printer that is. If you have gigabit internet or want to be able to transfer large files from one computer to another quickly, you want to make sure the switch supports...
Depending on your ink configuration, the yellow may share a damper with another color but one side of a damper can fail and the other can be fine. An easy way to test this theory is to do a damper swap. Switch the position of the damper with one next to it. Then run a cleaning cycle and see...
There is probably a mismatch in IP addresses between the computer and the printer. Think of the first 3 sets of numbers in the IP address as the neighborhood the device lives in and the last number is the street address. So you want the computer and the printer to be in the same neighborhood but...
You got it. Just make sure to unplug the machine, and wait about 15 minutes before working on it. Then make sure everything is perfectly plugged in before powering back on. Be careful with the ribbon cables as they are easy to break if you put them in crooked.
I always hear good things about J Teck inks. We don't do a lot of dye sub but I fix a lot of their machines and that is the one that comes up the most it seems.
I know as a merchant member I am treading dangerous waters but, in general Signs101 has become much more negative and hostile in the last couple years and I wouldn't pin it on one specific user. People ask for design critiques and get personal attacks instead. People ask questions in the newbie...
