  1. Longest print, lam, cut file you do or have done?

same here, i try to keep under 8ft. whenever possible but feel more comfortable under 6ft. Have done a runs close to 20ft, but huge risk of expensive failure. friction/tension is your enemy: overlaminate hanging off the edge that would drag/stick to machine as it cuts, material that is not...
  2. Hanging paper towel dispenser - beyond my skillset?

great idea. hold it on the wall, with a level, trace the holes .....then take a square-on photo, scale it in illustrator, plot a paper pattern, mount it 2nd surface, and drill all the way through to the front of the wall.
  3. Here's a fun one...........................

I've taken a few rides in police cruisers as well, sans-handcuffs. I've also learned not keep the keys in my pocket, in certain situations. 18342810_10100478609471428_4924321214932386109_n by MikePro posted Jun 12, 2017 at 4:55 PM

    signs are fun

  6. CNC stud marks

+1 to scoring with a bit, I do it too. beats the heck out of the old-way, marking by-hand with a paper pattern and keeping track of letters 1-xxx. duplicate letters, always get duplicated stud targets, saves hours of effort/headache during final production/install. .01" (i go .015") depth is...
  7. Question Moving channel letters

i've lifted something like this on ladders, even with 3 guys/ladders, and it is awful. channel letters on a raceway are anything but balanced. It will want to roll'over in your arms, and one guy loses his awkward grip then you may as well all let go, cause it's goin' down & hopefully without a...
  8. Printing On Roll White Plotter Paper With Roland VP540i?

i printed on paper with our solvent mimaki jv3, always for patterns too large for the plotter. I just made my lines a 20-30%black, and printed with ICC Profiles turned off.
  9. Chicago Cubs - anyone got a PMS color?

yesssss! you rock! was figuring I could always go to sporting good store, but matching a color from someone else's color match (who knows where they got it from) is a slippery slope. (its also just wayfinding signage, no copyright infringement here)
  10. Chicago Cubs - anyone got a PMS color?

making signs for school district near Wrigley, and they want all painted blues&reds to match Chicago Cubs colors, BUT all media guides I could find lack this info. Anyone know what PMS Blue & PMS Red they are?
  11. White cut vinyl issues

rapid remover cleans-up most staining elements without destroying painted surfaces. gotta be really really old vinyl, is my best guess.
  12. UV Printing on Mirror Tint

agreed, try it. only issue I could see happening is the reflection curing/gumming-up ink onto your printheads (I don't have a UV printer, but always heard that was an issue with reflective materials) worst-case, switch to printing on clear vinyl and laminating onto to the one-way film, or...
  13. Airport Breakaway Signs

we don't bother with breakaway posts..... we use breakaway bolt systems you can most likely even use the existing footing, assuming you can put your trust in its original construction, but cut low to the ground and attach matchplates to that and the pole base.
  14. Need Help Looking for a holographic high tack vinyl.

most of those holographic effects you can get from a laminate, like VinylEFX or similiar. print on your standard motorcross hightack vinyl and laminate with specialty laminate.
  15. Do seams on perforated vinyl hold up well?

edited: oops, redundant, as already mentioned to butt-seam and overlap with the edge seal tape. buuuut i'll leave my elaborated version up anyways :) (edge seal tape is just optically clear overlam cut down to rolls. I just cut my own, out of whatever laminate I'm using for the print) ------ i...
  16. Perforated Mirror Gold Vinyl?

does it have to be perforated? can't you just use one-way gold chrome window tint, maybe even applied to red plexi, and then illuminate with red LED? (linked example, but don't quote me on that exact one as a quality material to use.) works for "dual-color" black/grey trans. vinyls that are...
  17. Cast vinyl and over lam for long term signage?

Might be worth looking into anything that boasts a 5year outdoor "intermediate-grade" calendared vinyl BUT continue laminating with your standard cast 7yr+ overlaminate, is a bit more budget-friendly without sacrificing much longevity....but saves you about $300+ per roll of print material, and...
  18. 3651 Clear for Pinball backglass

yuck! never ever ever ever ever double-ink-print on clear, or anything. its just awful unless you're favorite color is various shades of brown :) there's always options, however, depending on your expected results: -vinyl: white transluscent vinyl is my standard option for base-white, but...
  19. Rolls roller or CWT table?

CWT can ship the cutting mats out of Texas if you order from them. The owner told me that they stock it on coils and cut to size when you order. RollsRoller certainly can supply a table mat as well, but I'm certain it would ship from Canada.
  20. Rolls roller or CWT table?

patent infringements don't affect the end-user. RR&CWT are hardly the only two companies producing laminator tables, but they are definitely the best of the bunch. that being said, we just bought the CWT 1647 and LOVE IT! Already got highschool kids with zero experience applying 4x8 panels...
