I've done them with ACM stringers. Paint the acm to match building, mount the letters with studs & nuts.

What if this were a deadly virus? One that killed 10%, 25% or more? And we don't even have enough masks and bio gear for our hospitals to handle this? This is no different than being prepared for war. We better learn a lesson from this and be better prepared going forward.

Seams on a sign like this aren't usually objectionable and depending on the design can often be minimized behind the letters/logo. I'd use prefinished acm and add a nice raised border .

I also thought it could be porcelain. There was a company near me that was doing them till fairly recently. But the paint/mask/paint/clear is probably the most economical way to duplicate it

Yep, they just about force you to buy it, unless you want to fix it yourself. Or if you can locate a local tech who works on them reasonably. I have different hp printers and back when I used to fix them myself when they were out of warranty. But I don't enjoy doing it and my time is better...
