  1. Best CNC for aluminum signs?

On the tool changer, if all the signs have 4 holes in them, would you want to use the same bit for the holes? I assume you would cut out all the holes before cutting the perimeter.
  2. Best CNC for aluminum signs?

Also could someone shed some light on this too. When doing 8"x4" signs from a 8'x4' sheet of aluminum using our current setup (shear/punch press rounder and hole punch) we yield 144 signs per sheet, with zero wasted aluminum. What would be the max for a CNC? Tool width, plus you need to leave...
  3. Best CNC for aluminum signs?

Looking into purchasing a CNC, primary use would be aluminum (040, 063, 080) and dibond signs. A mix of runs, sometimes 2,000 8"x4" signs, and also smaller runs of signs. All signs would be printed vinyl/laminate mounted to the substrate before being cut down on the CNC. From my research...
  4. Oracal 751 black problems

Really? We use tons of 751, never have an issue. To the OP, we have seen this from time to time. Hit it with the torch and it goes right away. I've seen this on oracal, and 3m, don't use much anything else.
  5. Vendor for ADA and Routed signs

I have a couple vendors I use for carved signs, we don't have in house cnc. Needing to get 50+ 6"x5.25"x.125 white acrylic with raised numbers and braille. Also need to get 20+ 16"x16"x.5"PVC white, Inset numbers and borders, painted. Any good wholesale recommendations for an order as such?
  6. Kala laminator - sensor bypass

Ha! Thanks, I feel dumber now. Was the big red emergency stop button on the back. In my defense, I'm the owner and don't get involved in production much anymore.. When my guys told me laminator stopped working sensor won't reset... should of checked the kill switch. Thanks,
  7. Kala laminator - sensor bypass

Has anybody bypassed the laser sensor on the kala? I thouth I read about it on here but can't find it now. Something about tying the laser wires together? Have gotten used to the sensors. But today it tripped and won't reset. So I'd like to try and just bypass it for good. But if anybody...

  12. S2 T160 - trouble cutting metallic

Thanks Phil. Would this yellow filter need to be removed when cutting regular white print media? Or does it work better for everything?
  13. S2 T160 - trouble cutting metallic

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Do you tape the barcode and long lines too, or just the squares along the sides?
  14. S2 T160 - trouble cutting metallic

Having trouble with our summa accurately reading/cutting printed metallic vinyl. Printed on 3m metallic silver vinyl and laminated. What happens is sometimes it will cut everything off slightly. I'm pretty sure the sensor is having trouble accurately reading the crop marks. We are running...
  15. Discussion Digiprint Supplies question

been fighting with them for a refund for a few months now. Super shady company do not do business with them.
  16. Sign Mounting Film?

Looking for a roll of double sided adhesive film that can be used for installing dibond or pvc signs to interior doors. Needs to be permanent adhesive. Hoping to find something 48" roll that we can laminate to the back of 8'x4' sheets of ACM that will then be sheared down into 5"x3" signs. So...
  17. Bit cooling when cutting aluminum

Does the aluminum to be routered have printed vinyl already applied to it? Have been looking into a router to pump out large orders of small 040 and 063 aluminum signs. We currently use a shear and pneumatic hole punch and corner rounder. Always curious how a router table would handle say...
  18. Setting up a sheet with crop marks in Onyx

Are you adding in the trim marks on the corners of the signs using a macro? Making copies of the signs and arranging them with a macro? I use a few macros I've created in illustrator for bleeding and cutlines. Hadn't thought to try a macro for this type of situation. Care to explain your...
  19. ROLL-X or CWT questions

We purchased a rollover a couple months ago. We didn't intend to do any laminating with it and haven't other than to try it out. It silvers more than a roll laminator, and really a roll laminator is a much better option for laminating. These tables excel in mounting prints and applying...
  20. Setting up a sheet with crop marks in Onyx

So if we are doing 8"x4" signs, we print an 8'x4' print, 144 signs, and mount to a 8'x4' sheet of alum. We then shear down the sheet into 8"x4" signs. If you don't have bleed to on the perimeter, then everything else has to work out perfectly to get all 144 signs our of a sheet. You can't...
