  1. Sources for SP-300V ribbon cable for the two printheads.

In defense of Roland dealers, which I normally don't do, they are forced to sell their heads at that price and have no other options if they want to keep their dealership. So they aren't necessarily gouging you. They are just following their dealer contract. $300 to show up is overboard though...
  2. Need Help CJV30 series contour cutting

Usually when I have tried to do a cut only file through Rasterlink it cuts the file in half or the scale will be off for some reason. Maybe Rasterlink 6 has fixed this? Anyway, you should try FineCut. All you have to do is make your artwork and then hit the plot button. Sounds like it would be a...
  3. Red and yellow sections of print have strange marks

It looks like your PF adjustment needs to be adjusted. The pattern you are seeing is the top of the wave pattern Mutohs print. When each pass is too close together, you get darker spots like that.
  4. F-2 fuse replacement on an SP-300V questions

It is never a good idea to use a different rated fuse on a circuit. Too low of a rating and it will blow all the time. Too high of a rating and your head and main board will fry before the fuse does. We have the proper fuses on our website: 1.6 amp fuse We also offer a fuse replacement service...
  5. Need Help CJV30 series contour cutting

Yeah if you have been trying to cut only from Rasterlink it won't work like you think it will. You have to use the FineCut plot function.
  6. Roland XR-640 printing slowly

If you can, see if it works from another computer. That will help isolate where the issue might be. If it's still slow, it has to do with the cable or printer hardware. If it works fine, something is wrong on the computer side. Also, if you use a router, try hooking directly to the computer...
  7. Does a UV print is a better quality than latex or solvent print?

In general they will have lower max resolution and tend to have a slightly more grainy texture to them compared to current solvent and latex technology. That being said, the quality is still good enough to sell and the ability to print direct to substrate is well worth it. This is why I normally...
  8. Roland XR-640 printing slowly

I would try a new Ethernet cable and check the router if you use one. Also, check to see if your overprint settings got changed by accident. There is a specific overprint setting that allows you to make it pause between passes on purpose. If that got changed, it could be causing the issue...
  9. DX-4 print head numbers question.

Yeah it sounds like you blew the fuse. When you know that there is ink in the head and it still doesn't fire, it's almost always the fuse. You may be in luck if the machine has a newer style main board in it and has socketed fuse. That way you can just get the new fuse and pop it in. If it is an...
  10. Need Help Mutoh printer acting funny printing lines?

You can clean the encoder strip with a lint free cloth or swab and no stronger than 80% rubbing alcohol. Be gentile with it as you are just trying to get any dust or grease off of the surface. My policy is to only clean the encoder when I start seeing issues and leave it alone the rest of the...
  11. Need Help Mutoh printer acting funny printing lines?

How big was the sample print he printed for you? If it was smaller than 17" wide, it would have looked perfect. If it was bigger and looked fine, you might have some loose cables in the machine that could be causing the issue or even a dirty encoder strip. By decoder I mean a small electrical...
  12. Need Help Mutoh printer acting funny printing lines?

The only time I have seen a pattern like that is when the print head was not the correct version. Normally the issue doesn't show up on prints that are shorter than 17" wide but if you go over that size, it will print this pattern. If that is the case, you will need a new head or you can try to...
  13. DX-4 print head numbers question.

The first set of numbers and letters you provided is the head rank.
  14. Question Applying vinyl to existing awning

Specialty Materials has a product specifically for awnings. They only have 6 colors but might be worth a try. Thermo Banner 2
  15. SP-300V Question

Absolutely. They want you to use that tool so you don't strip the cheap screws they use in the printer. Just tighten them enough so they are tight but don't overdo it . I have never used that tool to replace SP300 heads and I have replaced a lot of those heads.
  16. SP-300V Question

    Black/Cyan head is number 1.
  17. Rolland vp540 - I Have Some Questions! Quality Related

Have you checked your head alignments? How does the nozzle check look?
  18. CVJ150-160

I have installed about 25 of these printers in the field and installed many more of the CVJ30 series which came before it. The CJV150 series is a solid machine. As far as reliability I can't say much as they have not been out long enough to get a good read but so far they seem to be as reliable...
  19. Does anyone know if there is a way for the printer to bypass reading/detecting ink cartridges?

It could be a bad sensor or the heater junction board is malfunctioning. I would try cleaning the terminals that the sensor plugs into on the heater junction board first to see if that fixes the issue. Mutoh does offer a service to turn off the ink chips but it costs around $1500 if I remember...
  20. Direct printing to Coro

We printed some parking signs with a Mimaki JFX200 demo machine for our next door neighbors on aluminum sign blanks about 4 years ago. No clear coat or lam. Just ink on substrate. They are still up and have no apparent fading and they are facing south up here in the mile high city which is...
