  2. Will cast vinyl hold up under the hood of a car?

Ok thanks. Kinda figured that but have never tried it before.
  3. Will cast vinyl hold up under the hood of a car?

I have a customer looking to place service decals under the hoods of vehicles they service. It will get hot under there. Anybody ever use regular cast vinyl, or any other digital vinyl with good results for something like this? .008" thick aluminum decals are probably best suited for this but...

  5. Scribble Film??

What is scribble film? Have a bank requesting to cover a drive thru window with scribble film. They are replacing the drive thru teller window with an atm machine. I'm thinking it is some sort of blcokout film, but I've never heard of this product and couldn't find anything on google. Does...
  6. Hand routing sign shapes

Thanks for the advice everyone. The reason I want to make templates out of steel is becasue I have free access to a cnc plasma cutter and some scrap steel from my fathers welding shop. I set the cnc plasma cutter up for them years ago and know all the ins and outs of that. So it will be cheap...
  7. Hand routing sign shapes

I don't know. I figured the bit would need some meat to guide it. But that is good to know.
  8. Hand routing sign shapes

Looking into cutting sign shapes in house for ACM, lusterboard, sintra and cedar mostly. We have access to a cnc plasma cutter, so I want to start cutting templates out of steel to use for a hand held router. I don't have mush experience with using a router so I have a few questions I'm hoping...

  12. Wrapping Over Silicone?

We got an enclosed trailer to wrap next week. This is a brand new trailer that has all sorts of A/V stuff inside, and someone went crazy with the silicone gun. Everything has been silconed. Seams, around hinges, latches, speakers, even the stick on reflectors have a half inch wide finger...
  13. Stretching vinyl while applying to corrugated plastic.

We regularly print on oracal 3621 matte and apply to coro minutes off the printer. If you have a laminator, square the print on the coro, clamp or tape it down (we print from template with marks which makes squaring the print very quick), run 4" mask tape on the leading edge, pull back fold the...
  14. Would this be considered copyright infringment?

OK back to the drawing board then. I haven't looked into creative commons on wiki yet, but with all that Fred said... would that be just the same as what I have already done. I'll make sure to read over the liscenses there. Thanks for all your help on this.
  15. Would this be considered copyright infringment?

Pat That's funny, we just found and purchased it from there.
  16. Would this be considered copyright infringment?

Yea I think it would always be a gray area. How could you measure the percentage that it was changed anyway? If by pixels then I think I could say that this is 99% changed, just from flipping it... Hypothetical What if I was doing a design, and say I need to change the rims on a car or...
  17. Would this be considered copyright infringment?

Fresh I had a feeling it was... But I know I've read through some threads here over the years discussing that you only need to change it by 10% or something like that. Again we don't run into this very often if at all. I'll have to do what we normally do and buy a stock image.
  18. Would this be considered copyright infringment?

Thanks Jhill. I'm looking through that link now to see if it is a royalty free image. I actually found it originally with a google search that linked to a nat geo page. If this image isn't a royalty free image, would what I have done be considered copyright infringment? I'm trying to clear...
  19. Would this be considered copyright infringment?

Found this image of the hyena on nationalgeographic.com. Would manipulating this image the way I have be considered copyright infringment or stealing? I just did a quick proof, but I don't want to send it over to the customer until I clear this up. I don't run into this very often but it has...
  20. Reflective on Reflective or No?

I am in the camp that thinks when doing reflective traffic sings that black should be opaque. However when we do full color digital prints on reflective, the black parts of the print don't seem to reflect back white. This is on a roland using rvw black spot color on oralite 5600. We also...
