We use coro and score and fold so they create their own stand with a velcro tab or two to hold them together.
the space created by the folded back gives a good spot to put a weight or they can tape them down.
I'm with Tim, we usually refer to what we do as "Vinyl Graphics", though when selling items for customer application we will use the "Decal" term.
Stickers are what my kids get on their homework.

We do these with dry erase laminate, never tried printing on any of the dry erase films, except in the Edge.

Saw this wood sign I hand lettered about 15 years ago.
The client gave us the salvaged boards and we used them unfinished as requested.

Actually the quality of sign paint has deteriorated to the point where many colors just don't hold up.
Now the longest lasting option for most signs is cut cast vinyl.
