  1. Problem saving documents and the color showing up correctly

I have the same problem with adobe and saving .pdfs when I have multiple levels of transparencies/gradients. My workaround is to simply screenshot and add the image to my top layer before saving for email. Still contains vectors for later use but shows up as the proper color
  2. Mimaki JV3 ink consumption

my onyx 10 rip software measures ink usage pretty spot-on
  3. My first business window job!

i'm fan of, rather than layering vinyl, cutting an offset outline of the top-layer into the bottom layer. then again, i still do it the other way too but I most definately wet-apply. vinyl to vinyl surface adhesion is aggressive as heck.
  4. Best material to fill in HDU?

heck, just fill it with paintable caulk, clean it up with a razor blade after it dries, paint and be done with it. also noted: i've filled HDU gaps with bondo before, as well. My preferred method is still to use PB-FastSet (same stuff as gorilla glue, except you can buy it by the gallon from...
  5. Freelance designer

To anyone PMing in response to this, feel free to copy me on the freelance designer info as well. Wraps seem to take the longest time for us to setup than anything else around here. i do all the wrap designs myself, as the occasional wrap we do here/there is a nice way for me to take a break...

  10. Joining panels?

I love my Z-extrusion! miter-cut your corners, zip the frame to the wall, and slide your panels right on in. Only 4 finishing screws or rivots exposed on the side of the end-caps, and the rest gets concealed within your frame / under your panels. Comes delivered, anodized, in 20' sticks...
  11. Cheap channel letters?

o man, yeah you're right. well, or maybe only if it has an internal power supply? ijdk wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong again, as i think after 8 years staring at a trim cap table has my brain fried when it comes to channel letters :) its now the only word that comes to mind when i see a...
  12. Cheap channel letters?

i'd love to get beat at a place like that :) seriously though, i still call it a channel letter. just a BIG one. a single unit will most likely be cheaper, as its quicker on all ends of the project, but to be beat by 50% at the same scale is still rough. we always offer both. chicks dig...
  13. Font help? paint/grunge/etc

i rarely let a drawing go by without matching everything perfectly, as it usually turns from proposal to shop drawing in a hurry and I hate getting stuck redoing artwork when I'm busy with other projects. and boy am I busy! ...can't wait for ISA! hopefully i can catch wi-fi, poolside, and...
  14. Font help? paint/grunge/etc

heck, screw it. its distorted enough on its own that no1 will be the wiser :) sometimes you just gotta use the pen tool! still a bit of tweakin' needed before production, but this is just a layout for the client. their designer might even be able to provide me a proper file when I have the...

  17. mimaki and printing red

try printing a CMYK color chart with your profiles turned off. find the value you're looking for and use the Color Replacement tool in the rip or setup a spot color in your print file. I get some nice reds at diffrent combinations of 80%+ Magenta and Yellow. Sometimes throwing in some Black...

i've run my mimaki for nearly a decade, so I'll chime in... able to print without fans/take-up? yes and no. yes you can print. -anything longer than 3ft, you will have to devise your own way of keeping your print from laying on the ground and/or allowing printed surfaces from touching. no you...
