  1. Question 4" x 4" Post Sleeves

clad them in 3/4" azek? I find the home depot ones to be generally pretty durable. What kind of abuse do they plan for them? Or do they just want the "look" of thicker posts?
  2. Max Metal Madness

Anyone else notice that maxmetal has 0.15mm skins whereas most others (for example we use mostly omegabond and alupanel) are 0.012" to 0.015" Many people refer to the inch measurement as "mils" as in thousands-of-an-inch, and it can be easily confused with millimeters by those who aren't strong...
  3. stretched sans font with rounded ends

Wow! I would have otherwise guessed that it was some sort of single stroke font used for engraving, that has had a rounded stroke applied and expanded.
  4. Need Help Who has made signs using the new Century 21 logo...

My local office only relayed CMYK values for that gold color: C:22 M:22 Y:46 K:7 Well, that and some sort of name like "brilliant gold" or some such.
  5. Looking for 3M180C

I might have some end-rolls or small scraps. We have a regular customer that used it, and there was no issue switching over to the mC back along. I'm sure we still have a little of the old stuff left over. What is the minimum size that would be useful? I will check when I get back to the shop...
  6. Font ID Help please

    University Roman
  7. Contour cut window perf?

Doable in limited situations. We have learned to always edge seal window perf, so if the design is too complex, it could be easier to make a general cut shape with a black background or just cover the whole thing.
  8. RIP odyssey you served me well

Same happened to our Odyssey in Oct 2017 (close to 20 years old at the time) I was able to get the replacement part from Gerber P67679C. No idea of still available though. Here is photo of old parts and a schematic that was sent from a tech guy at Gerber. It took me a few hours to get it in...
  9. Suggestions How do you get rid of unprepared customers?

The best part about this post was that halfway through rossmosh's opening paragraphs there was an ad (tailored to my location no doubt) for an organization whose reps have occasionally done this to me. Albeit with the further irritation of me having been called to their campus for said fruitless...
  10. Magnetic Decals?

For ovals/circles that are maybe 6" or bigger, I have cut a matching shape from something like 3mm ACM, put non-skid shelf liner on the back, and then just traced around that with my utility knife to cut the mag. Could also outsource the job to Stouse who can die cut them.
  11. In need of a local Versaworks Mentor

Hate to say it, but this exactly matches the symptoms that we had. It was very frustrating.
  12. 3M.... scratching my head on this one.

I once ordered (and paid exactly for) a 48" x 10YD roll of a 3M 180c color. Box was labeled for what I ordered, like above is. Inside was 50 yards of the correct color. Luckily the client turned into one of our best and I only ordered 50 yards since then. Considering all the blemishes and...
  13. In need of a local Versaworks Mentor

Since you can't selectively choose which cutlines to use in VW (either all or nothing) then learning to manipulate cutlines is more of a issue that relates to learning the design software you use, rather than a VW issue. I only have experience with Gerber and Illustrator, but regardless of the...
  14. In need of a local Versaworks Mentor

What version of VW are you using? in your scenario, are you talking about VW literally having the knife cut around the car image (this would be solved by removing/adding/combining cutlines in order to get the cutpath you want), or is it more that there is a white square around the car blocking...
  15. Need Help VP 540i Distortion, Double Printing, Wavy Edge?

Very likely an issue relating to the encoder strip, or it's sensor. We cleaned and cleaned and eventually replaced our strip and still had issues. Turns out that our VP-540 makes more overspray than most (according to tech) and the sensor was covered in ink. Tech changed it out and it's been...
  16. Machine that welds vinyl banner edges and grommets at the same time?

We use this. Started with PowerTape, was fine for 4-5 years, but then every roll had the adhesive leaking out of the edges which make an awful mess if the banner is in storage for any amount of time (gets all over the print side). Tried different vendors, same result. An employee accidentally...
  17. What Do You Use? Where To Buy?

I'm in this post and I don't like it.
  18. Anyone have an old Ledco 30" Econocraft laminator?

I have an old 60" Ledco Econocraft Stamped on the fuse is: 3A 250V 312 It's nearly 20 years old and never blown, so thanks for letting me know where the fuse was in case it does....
  19. Started at a new shop recently....

Not sure if sarcasm or not. I do see a seam roughly in-line with the top of the grill. If it IS fully wrapped, is done very very well.
  20. Are TrueVIS Rolands really THAT bad?

We are also reasonably happy with our VG-540. Agree with being a bit finicky with the cleaning, but the output is great.
