We know an installer that we do the vehicle graphics etc for and he apples them that was looking at getting a printer and asked me for advice.
instead of advice, I gave him the sheet of printed/cut graphics and a leftover roll of mask with a squeegee. Thought I’d let him try just the weed/mask...
So to put it simply. To colour match all your printers you’ll need to create your own profiles. On each printer.
To do this you need to do a series of prints on each printer, then scan them with a measurement tool (spectrophotometer). After about 2500 patches the printer should have a pretty...
There are a few on this forum that offer video/ video meeting based help. Might be worth reaching out to them.
To begin with, what RIP are you using? What spectrophotometer? What processes?
Offers much more. It’s much more user friendly, you have a lot more options/control over jobs and has built in ICC profile creation providing you have a measurement device.
We only really switched to onyx because we got the Colorado (obviously won’t run on RL as it’s not a mimaki lol) and...
I mean we charge design based on time. Make as many changes as you want.
Then after sign off (we make them sign a sheet electronically) it’s their problem if I’ve pressed print already.
If you’re already printing/finishing they pay for a reprint. Simple as that.
I think you can get a free trial of onyx, probably caldera too.
We upgraded from a mimaki CJV-30 (and rasterlink 5) to a Colorado that we ran though onyx.
Rasterlink 5, we had a profile that was great and we ran every media on (wouldn’t dream of that now) but we did upgrade to RL6 when we...
I’ve never been pleased with rasterlink, the availability of profiles or the actual profiles themselves.
Honestly your best bet is getting yourself a free trial of onyx and trying to run it through that if all goes well. One step better get onyx and a spectrophotometer and get making your own...
I honestly thought that anyone with a flatbed usually had that sort of capability. If you go the flat bed route, you’re gonna need some sort of router/cutter?
If you were going to make a troll account you wouldn’t make your first action to let everyone know who you are though. Definitely a screw loose somewhere..
So after all the weirdness on the jig post, he’s now taken it upon himself to create a new profile then dislike a bunch of my comments via that instead.
time to get the mods involved?
Pretty easy to tell it’s him because my name isn’t Tom..
I’m going to assume it’s a very small % lol - assuming there’s a cost to it? They come with a pretty hefty price tag so I don’t see why people wouldn’t want to keep them in top condition.
I did see that, they’re meant to get factory calibrated every 2 years or so?
The current one is from before I started, the bag just says i1 pro so may be the first model.
I read the new(er) models might just be better at doing non-paper/rougher materials as the original ones were targeted...
So we’ve had our i1 for about 8 years. Still does what it needs to but just wondering if/when you know these things need an upgrade?
What new features do the updated models have? Can any automate the process(s)? Budget shouldn’t really be an issue so happy to take any recommendations. Ideally...
To summarise;
made thread trying to sell jigs (has since edited to adhere to guidelines)
disliked the comments stating you need to be a merchant member (also asked for proof) - see my unedited quote above about “prove it” that he’s since edited. Not sure if he knows it shows you when posts are...
Hahah this guy is 10 years old. Just went through and disliked a bunch of my comments in OTHER threads because I pointed out he was wrong lmao. I hope he doesn’t have to deal with customers..
Feel free to get a merchant membership and you can advertise to your hearts content. Haven’t you ever noticed that every other thread isn’t just about people selling their stuff?..
