I tried the cleaning solution through the head and magenta came out. It's not plugged up, which is good I guess.
So far I've done:
New capping station
New ribbon cables
Ran cleaning solution through the head
So now I'm more confused than usual :) and the Grimco tech has not returned my email...
Well that's the next step Grimco wants me to pursue. They want me to take a syringe of cleaning solution and push it through the head. Sounds a bit scary.
Bummer thing is and I probably should have known this, even with a 2 year warranty Grimco charges for travel time and labor.
Follow up
Changed out the ribbon cable and no change. BTW what a pain, you need mini fingers to get those things plugged in :)
Don't know whats next. Hopefully Grimco will send someone out to fix this thing.
Thanks for the responses guys.
Question, never messed with dampers before.
Do they just pop straight up out of the head manifold? and should I be ready for ink spillage or does the damper retain the ink already in it when removed from the manifold?
All the dampers are about a 1/4 full or less.
no bulk
Pulled through syringe, had a good suction to it. Ran test draw and nothing changed.
No magenta..hmm
After all this talk of how good my Mimaki is  I've been delt a blow.
My entire left side magenta just disappeared. Machine is still under warranty and Grimco sent me a new cap head assy. After waiting three days it arrived and with the new one in, no change.
I've done two 99 min...
I got my Dell XPS8300 i7 with 12GB ram at Costco and it works really well and ran me less that $1,000. Big rips still take a little time, but nothing compared to my previous tower of crap.
