I think you're looking to give it some individual style, and a strike-through is not going to achieve it, because the font is not simple and fat enough to support it.

That "strike-through" and clipping of the right hand side seems to be reaching far too hard.

Markers can work, but I've found paint pens/markers to work far better.

I designed it without slanting the oval. I thought the slant looked nice, but obviously that may not have been a very good decision!

Around here it's all lightening bolts and terrible things made by someone's artist kid, so for it to have style at all will have a lot of appeal!
