  1. JV33 ink valves

It's tough to say without seeing the machine in front of me. If you're sure the valves are opening and you can't draw ink through the lines, then logically...... If you can't draw ink through the lines that are showing up as OK on a test print, then you may not be opening the valves correctly...
  2. Cyan and Black on the left channel stop firing during production.

I'm not sure what it should be set at, or even what printer you have. My JV33 is set the same as it was when it was delivered and I haven't had any problems. Your dealer should be able to walk you through changing it over the phone. If it was working correctly before, then changing the head...
  3. JV33 ink valves

If you had the machine sit long enough to dry out the head then you're probably (unfortunately) on the right track. Ink may have solidified in the lines. I've never dealt with a dried out head to that degree so I have no idea how best to, or if it's even possible to, flush out the lines and...
  4. JV33 ink valves

Did you by chance buy this printer used and you're just setting it up? There's not a lot of history here to go by, so if you're saying you've got the valves open and can't draw ink, then you've pretty much answered your own question.
  5. Cyan and Black on the left channel stop firing during production.

There's also an adjustment for head refresh rate you should check. It determines how often the head returns to the capping station to refresh the ink in the dampers. Your long run may have depleted the available ink from the dampers until you did the cleaning.
  6. Any Canadian Suppliers on here?

I have a client who's looking to get 1000 t's and 200 long sleeve t's done. My regular supplier has been dropping the ball lately so I figure no time like the present to see who else is out there. Shoot me a PM or an email if you're a Canadian garment printer who sells wholesale to the trade.
  7. Huh?!?!?!

I never email illustrator files unless I compress them first. For some reason .ai files just don't seem to want to transfer properly via email.
  8. Best Business Cards EVER

I did some temporary cards up like that when I opened my shop. I didn't have my regular phone number yet and it only had my cell phone on them. Later after I had some other cards done up I was handing them both out since people were intrigued by the feel and look of the cards on the banner...
  9. Stained Glass Look

The dreamscape glasstex film is a printable textured vinyl that will give your simulations a little more texture than a regular flat clear laminate applied over glass will.
  10. #$!%^#!$%^#!$^% hate vistaprint

If anybody questions my prices I just tell them they can get their cards for free from Vistaprint. Then I follow that with a little, you better google "vista print scam" before you order though. I book a surprising amount of orders with that schtick. I guess people in my area are familiar with...
  11. Big Jobs or Little Jobs... or a mix

No sooner am I sitting at my desk wondering where the next job is going to come from when I'm finished the current project and the phone will ring with another order. It's been a tad sporadic, but still consistently busy. A nice mix of larger projects, regular orders from repeat clients and...
  12. CJV30 Cyan suddenly completely missing

When you swapped the dampers you created an airlock in the magenta channel. When you drew the magenta ink through the damper with a syringe you removed the airlock. That's the correct way to install a damper. They need to be pre-loaded with ink the way you drew the magenta into the damper with...
  13. JV3-160SP Inconsistant ink problems...

Keep an eye on the y-axis motor. According to my local tech, Mimaki has identified that these can fail earlier than they were expecting them to.
  14. JV3-160SP Inconsistant ink problems...

A higher number of passes does allow you to lay down more ink. The slower print speed allows you to increase the ink limits since it increases the drying time of the media for the same print surface area. It's possible to lay down a ridiculous amount of ink, so long as you print slow enough for...
  15. CJV30 Cyan suddenly completely missing

I'd say swap the data cables, but it's a single print head so that won't work. You may need a tech to check that a board hasn't fried. Have you done a nice long nozzle wash to make sure that it's not just the cyan drying out at the head?
  16. JV3-160SP Inconsistant ink problems...

X2 Clean the encoder strip too.
  17. Choosing the right Input ICC

The right input profile is the same one the customer (or you) used when it was designed. If you want more "POP", then just assign different profiles in the creative application until you see something that looks like you want.
  18. Customer rant....

The only problem I see is that you should be picking up the phone to call him and not asking him to call you. It's your sale to lose if you don't call and get to the root of the miscommunication.
  19. Best Business Cards EVER

Nobody has anything on this guy's business cards. Just ask him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YBxeDN4tbk
  20. Ink drops

Double check the seating of the dampers on the head. It may have come loose, or it may have had a bad o-ring on it to begin with. If it's clean then it has to do with air getting into the lines and allowing the ink to dribble out. Give your cartridges a little push into the slots as well...
