  1. Help please....

Fred that font is a persian typeface. I can't find any version of it that has latin characters. Is it a windows system font or something?
  2. Help please....

I should know this one, but all the serif fonts start to look alike to me after awhile.
  3. Cast Floor Graphic Laminate

I need a cast vinyl over lam with an astm slip rating for some floor graphics that are going onto a tiled and grouted floor. Does anybody make such an animal? Typical install length will be for 3-6 months so it needs to be durable enough to stand up to a floor polisher/waxer.
  4. Colorspan 98UVX Static Issues

Get the humidity up. I've seen those machines with a kiddie pool underneath them to raise the humidity levels to fight static. It's hardly an elegant solution, but it works.
  5. Brand Spankin' New JV33

I haven't so much as changed a wiper blade on my JV33 in 3+ years. Not because I'm lazy or don't maintain the machine. It's because it simply hasn't needed it. It's cleaned daily. The only thing that's ever gone wrong is one jet in the black channel is clogged and has been for about 2 years...
  6. are roll of pre mask really 100 yards?

Let me get this straight. You have 100 yards of premask that's lasted long enough to do 2 - 50 yard jobs of frosted and you still have some pre-mask left on the roll. Are you wondering if it's short or long?
  7. 6 colour

Usually the ink splits are separate from the profile and controlled with curves. One for each of the full strength and one for the diluted to set where they cross over and how they apply ink. They are then treated as a single ink channel. The LcLm is there solely to reduce the visible dot and...
  8. Arlon 6000XRP vs 3m 180c

I've found that the Arlon is just as good for print quality, but definitely has a more aggressive bite than the 3m.
  9. Preventing the wrinkles from powertape?

Do you fold the edges, or is just a reinforcement tape?
  10. Preventing the wrinkles from powertape?

Is this banner hem tape you're talking about?
  11. optical clear vinyl

Oracal's optically clear lam for perf works great. Price was much better than 3M too.
  12. Companies who use Google Adwords

I stopped my ad-words program about two years ago now. It's great at bringing in $50 orders from locals, but my business has grown to the point where those guys are more of a PITA than their jobs are worth. I'm going balls out with the work in shop now so the last thing I need right now is more...
  13. Are the benefits for using a CcMmYK that substantial for sign making.

Depends on what you're printing. Like Sightline says, anything people will view from close up will benefit from the smoother looking print you get with the LcLm inks. For art-repro, POP, labels, stickers, etc. the LcLm does make for less visible dots and a nicer looking finished piece. Take...
  14. 25500 and shrinkage!

I've seen shrinkage even on my Mimaki. Printing without the takeup reel, or setting the tension to as low as it will go and still roll the media up reduced it significantly. I think the media gets stretched by the tension combined with the heat and when it cools it can shrink quite a bit.
  15. Flexi 8.5v2 for Mac not outputting to plotter

Is the old(er) machine running OS9, because I know it's impossible to run OS9 and Lion on the same machine (one needs an intel processor and other won't run on one). Networking between OS9 and OSX is a *****. I've resorted to a "sneaker" net with a USB key to move files between an old mac I...
  16. Low Tech Color Management

I'm a one man operation and wouldn't ever consider trying to run my business without the colour management system I have in place now and have had since I started doing large format work. As a small one-man shop, time is my most valuable resource. I use the method I do because I know it saves...
  17. Low Tech Color Management

So your defense is that your clients don't care about quality? Why bother trying to match colours at all? Mine care, and they pay me more for it. You'll need to explain to me how I'm wasting my time when I can spend less time on each job and charge more for it, because I fail to see where...
  18. edges lifting on prints after just 3 weeks????

Heavy coverage on vinyl can affect the adhesive. When I do ink limiting for custom profiles I always pull the vinyl off the backing and check to see where my limits are starting to really soften the vinyl and affect the adhesive behind it. Just because the print side looks good, doesn't mean I...
  19. Low Tech Color Management

It is a perfectly valid method. You do waste more ink and media printing your charts than I do to make a custom profile. Plus a ton of time going through your clients files and rebuilding them to print with your bastardized specs. And that's just to get an accurate spot colour. It does nothing...
  20. HELP!! Red is printing Orange!!!

When you say you filled the bulk system up with "new" ink, did you mean just adding in "more" ink of the same type you were using before, or that you switched to a "new" ink?
