  1. Wasatch Contour Cut & Perf Cut

I think your version of wasatch is too old to allow it to recognize the flex or perf cut. I know in one of their updates since I bought mine (6.4) they added the flex cut recognition for summa cutters. I would expect that they would have done the same for the graphtec cutters. If you call...
  2. Laminated/contour cut graphic clouding up

Vinyl for aqueous inks comes with a clay coating that lets the ink bind to the vinyl where it wouldn't otherwise be able to grab hold of the media. That clay coating is exposed after the contour cutting and is wicking the moisture in behind the laminate. There is nothing you can do to prevent...
  3. SS21 Ink

I found AGS to be cheaper, but once I showed their prices to ND they matched it.
  4. SS21 Ink

All Graphic Supplies and ND graphics.
  5. What laminator and why?

My GBC has been working flawless for me.
  6. Banner shipping tube

Check out Uline.com. They have a ton of options for shipping tubes and boxes. Opt out of their catalogue if you get the chance though. They send a 3-400 page catalogue to you every month it seems.
  7. Mimaki Latex printer

If anybody gets a chance to have a look at this thing, could you please check and see where the white ink recirculates from? The video posted shows the last bit of line not included in the recirculation and I'd like to know how far from the head the white ink stops recirculating. I'd also like...
  8. RIP Software

Wasatch's RIP does a few things pretty strange, but overall is a good RIP. For color control I'd pick Colorburst over Wasatch any day of the week, but they don't support as many printers and cutters as Wasatch does. Their customer support is a million times better than Wasatch though. Plus it...
  9. Air Release intermediate vinyl?

I've done some wall wraps with IJ35c and the 8520 matte laminate. The lam's a little pricey, the but the IJ35c was easy to apply and worked great. The matte finish is a nice touch as well.
  10. Can a Laminator be used to apply transfer tape to weeded vinyl signage?

I use the same pre-mask and have found that an easier way of application is to roll it out on the table upside down (adhesive side up) and then unroll the weeded vinyl across the transfer tape once it's been laid out nice and flat. You might be stretching it when you're pulling it out which is...
  11. Double sided printing

How close to 61" will it print? Right to the edge or is there a 1/4" gap on either side? What's the current price on a 26500? What about weight and installation? I know they take a 220 line, but are they much heavier or bulkier than a JV33? I need to get this past a set of stairs for an...
  12. Double sided printing

Thanks guys. Doesn't really look any different than how I do it now, except for the auto registration for the start point. If anything that creates more wastage than how I do it now. I've done tons of double sided banners with nothing more than a 4" lead front and back and .25" bleed. It's never...
  13. Finding the Right RED

REds are notoriously bad on inkjets at faster speeds. Try slowing your printer down with a higher resolution and number of passes and watch how much the reds punch up.
  14. Mimaki Latex printer

I'm not so sure this thing is going to be all that fast. They're saying that the 18 sm/hr is with CMYK so I can only assume these 8 color units would be running dual CMYK to achieve that speed. At half that speed it's not exactly a big speed bump considering the jump to multiple heads. Drop it...
  15. Mimaki Latex printer

It's interesting that Mimaki is claiming a 4pl dot size for these new heads and Ricoh shows nothing with that capability in their current offerings. If the heads are really going to be Ricoh, then they must be a brand new type for them. Especially since someone above is claiming it's a dual head...
  16. Double sided printing

I've read that the new latex printers make double sided printing and registration fairly easy but have no experience with these machines. Could somebody explain the process of doing a double sided print on an HP latex printer for me? I'm interested in these machines, but do a fair amount of...
  17. Mimaki Latex printer

The press release calls the ink a water based resin type, so I think you're probably onto something there. It would definitely explain the lower power and heat requirements.
  18. rapid remover!

Oddly enough, whatever rapid remover can't get off, seems to come off with rapid tac. I had a crappy old van to redecal that was covered with tree sap and old wax. Remover wasn't making much of a dent in it, but the rapid tac took it off no problem. I'm a big fan of both products.
  19. Mimaki Latex printer

Any word on what heads they're using in these machines? Never mind the latex machine, the SUV model with the UV drying on the solvent inks seems pretty wild too. Although I'd rather have the durability of solvent compared to the UV ink lifespan.
  20. Low Acid Paper?

Acid free papers are pointless when you print with a solvent printer. They only work with aqueous inks. Sure you can print on them with the GS6000, but they're no longer PH neutral due to the solvents in the ink.
