  1. Corel Vector Art

Lovely! My only suggestion is that shadows aren't exactly solid black. They are generally a really dark shade of the ground with some reflected color from the material that is causing the shadow. The black shadow works though. Keep up the good work.
  2. customer's "logo"...

I will see your vista prints and staples and raise you a custominks designed shirt. What I love is getting a design e-mailed to me from a screenshot of a cell phone picture of the website when a person tells me "I have the artwork already" ... then I have to ask someone in the shop "is that a...
  3. Looking for some "Professional" Expertise

Computers are a dime a dozen, software to boot. Equipment can be cleaned, fixed and refurbed ... or in some cases replaced. Business itself can be built alone on good customer relations and providing a good product. I've seen shops start with less than what you have there ... work with what...
  4. Problem.....WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

I've seen this with arlon ... nothing that extreme but I've seen it ... ussually on big rigs that have it up around the upper windshield area (on the sides). I figured it was just road conditions (snow, rain, oils, chemicals, smoke, heat, cold, etc, etc) affecting the age as wind at 60-80 mph...
  5. 20 typeface treatments

I like the sign but would hate to have the discussions like "Well ... we CAN do carbon on bleeding cowboy BUT ... " or "Yeah, we can do gold effect ... on brush script ... well ..." Really though. Great idea for your designers. Lets them have a reference to mix it up a little when they start...
  6. Shop vehicle.

It's a waste of time to try to negotiate for higher recomps ... you as an individual using a vehicle for commercial purposes will get you dink with a side of a garbage trade in value later on down the road. Between wear and tear on the vehicle, the added upkeep expenses aren't worth the money...
  7. New Computers! Anyone have any preferred vendors?

All my computers are networked, and while I store a great many files locally on my design computer, out of the 4 computers in my shop I have one I dedicate to backup (weekly), storage and sharing where all my finals go to live when I save. My network can transfer 100 megs per second so loading...
  8. New Computers! Anyone have any preferred vendors?

Eventually I want to get a signburst system ... but it depends on your needs. I have been building systems since '95 so modding systems and even tooling with the OS to do what I want isn't out of the norm. My design system is a quad core with 16 gigs of ram and two 1tb hd's and a 3gb radeon hd...
  9. Happens too often...

It happens, about once a week (or two) I end up on the losing battle of a "that (shirt, vehicle, window, etc) is not a business card and/or billboard" discussion. Sometimes it's about what they expect from their graphics and while a vehicle is pretty hard to read a million lines of text while...
  10. Unused artwork!

It is vector art, but it's just a 10 minute drawing with a rough vector and basic halftoning ... nothing that would pass quality control for stock art. It's one of those "they want WHAT?!" ... all right, let me get out my pens ... it will be done in about 20 minutes ..." sort of thing. Good...
  11. Unused artwork!

So, I was going through my files of the last year ... and I have unused artwork! For whatever reason these works were dumped in favor of something different (got to love that) so some of my illustrations are just sitting there. Thought I would share in my 'failed' art for the last year. As I...
  12. Screen printing flyer

Oh, and your flyer would do pretty darn well as a postcard you could use in a direct mail campaign through usps. it's pretty darn inexpensive to use the service and would hit you where you want to spread the word to without covering windshields.
  13. Screen printing flyer

I like your flyer. I wouldn't put a damn thing about price on it. If anything I would include how you focus on quality and service, and have an invite for them ... you know "come on in today, to find out!" or something similar. ... but even then that might be a print it on the back thing.
  14. Buying a Cutter !

This. +1 Don't burden your business with a debt starting out if you can avoid it ... especially when 99% of your jobs will be doable with a 24" roll when you start.
  15. I'm running out of places to look..

    Brush script?
  16. need to find 2 fonts I don't have the real name for

Damn ... oh well. Thanks anyways guys! I'm going to go cry myself to sleep over here, to prepare for a long day of vectoring a crappy font amongst other things...
  17. Software question

Ok, well with that new information ... it's not the software or the machine ... it's the user. Your software won't ever make your bridges on stencils for you. You need to make them yourself in your vector software. You can get past this by using stencil fonts...
  18. Software question

your copam probably doesn't have the downward force for a single pass single cut on mylar. make it go over the cuts 2 or 3 times and see if that does the trick.
  19. Installing vehicle emblems

    Gorilla Glue. :toasting:
  20. need to find 2 fonts I don't have the real name for

The important one is the script one. Customer says it's Team Script, but for the life of me I can't find anything but a hat site and what the font is USELESS for this thing. Any help would be awesomely appreciated since I can't find it anywhere.
