  1. any ideas removing old stripes?

If you go down the Eraser/Zapper route, be aware that those rubber wheels can cause burn marks on fiberglass if you dwell on one spot too long - and you can't get rid of them. Ask me how I know..

  4. Mounting Vinyl with a laminator

I find using scissors or a knife can leave whiskers of backing paper under the vinyl, so prefer to fold the paper under. Here's how we do it - it's pretty much the same as the original poster, but eliminates pre-mounting the leading edge to the board, and uses the laminator itself to hold...
  5. ezrouter

Built like a tank. We got ours a few years back and it's a workhorse. PM me if you need any specifics.
  6. When sending to Versaworks...

Just to be clear, I'm talking about the ICC box in Coreldraw. Why would you need to set the profile in Corel and in Versaworks - doesn't make sense to me.
  7. 1-shot Cleaning Brushes

Two containers of mineral spirits or brush cleaner - remove surplus paint with a rag, and then swill in container 1 to get the worst out, then into No.2 for a final clean. Finish off by gently drying with a clean cloth and then oil 'em up. Dip them up to the ferrule and wipe surplus off on edge...
  8. When sending to Versaworks...

Greetings! Just to find out what the general concensus is: when outputting to Versaworks from CorelDraw as either an EPS or as a PDF, do you check the box "Apply ICC Profile" and if so, which one?

  10. Buy me a plotter

I agree with Craig - if that's your total budget, forget about getting plotter straightaway - you'll have nothing for materials. Spend some of your cash on software and become a great sign designer, use another shop for your production. Churning out just another coro sign will just make you...

  13. Lexan or Plexi?

Greetings! Can someone refresh my memory as to how to tell if an unknown sheet is polycarbonate (lexan) or acrylic (plexi)? I seem to recall it involves cutting a small sliver off with a knife - if it slices off clean, it's lexan - if it comes off as chips, it's acrylic. Can someone tell me if...
  14. Quandary

I think under the circumstances you need to explain your reasoning and that, for what they want, their budget is unreasonable. I would also be prepared to walk away from it if they can't be persuaded - anybody can work for nothing.
  15. Dimensional lettering install

I would say .080 is a little thin for 30" letters - Dibond would have been a better choice. But if you're stuck with it, I'd rail them to get as even a face as possible, especially since the peaks on the siding is unlikely to run 100% flat...
  16. advice for bulding a web site (beginner here)

I would suggest you look at Wordpress - it's not just for blogs!
  17. Reliability Question

You can't go wrong - an excellent machine, we've found. Keep up the regular maintenance and it just keeps on printing!
  18. Software suggestions?

+1 for Vectric - their Aspire software will do everything you're likely to need at a very nice price. As for BobCad, they are the pushiest, most annoying company - I would rather nail my head to the floor than buy anything from them...

Is it just me? The second image on the gallery comes across as "ASS SIGN"
  20. Profanity on wraps???

I would submit it is impossible for something to offend you, only for you to be offended by something (a subtle difference)
