  2. Some Print problems on our VJ1604

Adjusting the PF is probably the most important thing to do for each substrate. Write them down or store them in #'s. Menu/right arrow/enter/pick # & enter/down arrow/right arrow/initial print/500mm Measure and adjust in "initial" GET TO KNOW THIS PROCEDURE. THAT NOTHING HAS CHANGED IS...

Double check your PF adjust for the particular substrate @ 500.
  4. what do you think?

"Prototype" makes me think of a draft, and "66" makes me think of a sign. This popped in my mind. It's by no means a good design as is, but gives some merit to the name itself.
  5. How do I copy fonts to my new computer

You may also move them to the new computer by first zipping the folder they're in before transferring. This can also help prevent problems with all kinds of transfers.
  6. Nuke the Fax?

The fax is great for signatures.
  7. Maintenance engineer problem vj-1604 help?

Uh Oh. Updating the firmware may not be a good idea if it doesn't need it or it isn't done exactly correct, which is likely to happen if you're in a hurry due to frustration. Get it out of ink charge. Turn it off, and unplug it for about five minutes. I've had only a few "strange" things happen...

  11. Wasatch VS Onyx

I used to use Wasatch, but I didn't really care for it. From what I remember, it was Wasatch 6, and it gave me a lot of "surprises". I use Onyx now, and although it has a few quirks, it does a nice job. No surprises, and the layout feature and quick-sets I don't think I could live without...

  13. Turn $20 into $5000 - is it possible?

I've cheated a couple times. Sound like a few here will have my head for admitting using plotters & vinyl to make the masks for hand-painting jobs that the customer wanted "Perfect like vinyl, but painted".
  14. Brain lock...

    Maybe more "tied together"?
  15. Brain lock...

Lose the upper left border portion, then give it equal breathing room around the art perimeter.
  16. Mutoh V J 1604 dies over flushing sponge

It actually SHOULD make a click noise when going over the black carriage spring coming from the left (from center of printer if you're standing in front of it), and have to be pushed down with your finger to bring it back out from the capping station. Bend that bracket, & or pivot that black nip...
  17. Wanting to build a new table...

As flat as possible. Look into any local companies that are getting rid of layout tables (steel or otherwise). That may be overkill, but would be perfect if you can get them on the cheap.
  18. Too many sign shops!!

Interesting thread, as I sometimes wonder why I don't start a sign shop myself. I say that because my skill set seems it would fit quite nice~ - 5 years wood pattern-maker. Entailed about every damn tool and layout skill there is. - 4 years art director for a printing company. All pre-press...
  19. Banner stand failures

Sounds like the substrate you're using is too thin if the clamp is letting go. I haven't had any jam up. I must be lucky, because I usually use a cheap one (not THE cheapest, but not expensive). I've heard not to use the "Sirius" ones, perhaps that's what you've been using?
