  1. How long should it take to rip a 300mb file in Versaworks?

It really depends on whats in the file rather than the size. If its 300mb of bitmap then that seems a little long, but if its a nightmare of vectors and transparencies then that could be ok. I have seen them take half an hour on a similar machine.
  2. Mind is a blank - Versaworks

My mind is a blank this morning. I can't remember how to print individual panels of a job that is tiled. many thanks :thankyou:
  3. Printer Profile

I have a stock one from Allgraphicssupplies, it's good, but for saturation I use one of the standard roland banner profiles. looks better.
  4. Roland SP 540 Versacamm owners....

The perfect machine to get into the market with, workhorse, easy to use, forgiving. It is slow, but by the time that becomes an issue you will have a self sustaining business. From there you have the luxury of faster less forgiving machines.
  5. printer/copier for business cards

outsource unless you are in a really cut off community (Monopoly), the quality is never satisfying unless the overhead makes you sweat. A footnote about small markets, you going into business cards may prompt the local printer to go into signs just to survive.
  6. Variable Data

I think I did it a while ago. Circular decals, variable data. Don't think anything was wrong or difficult with it.
  7. Please help trying to find an erased file

In exchange for all of your hours work you had a valuable lesson. All the best lessons have a high price.
  8. NBC Sued over fonts.

NBC is a nice big public target, they will make more money because a lot of corporations will be doing font audits. Fonts are always the last thing to be dealt with, even companies that are hot on image rights managment have a dusty collection of grey fonts built over the years. Signage...

  12. Versaworks

A useful workaround when flattening is driving you crazy. Create two .eps files from the original. one with the graphic in all its transparent drop shadow glory the other the cut path. Print one, cut with the other. As long as they are the same size and both have the print cut crop marks...
  13. Any VersaWORKS 3.2.1 guinea pigs yet?

I had my finger on the upgrade button... Now...? Will have to check with my dealer. Anyone else have profile issues?

erm... do you have a graphics card that can drive two monitors side by side? Windows can certainly do the software, but you also need the hardware.

  16. Favorite Quote from a Customer Today

Further to this is the customer who gets you to print at that price saying the other 550 will be coming next week (and you print in hoping to make money on the full job), but you never see them again. It's a WalMart world, every day is cheaper and nastier than the last.
  17. graphic elements

Istockphoto.com great source for just about everything. Each time I go there though the price creeps a little higher.
  18. VersaWorks crashing- still

I get crashes when I try to start sometimes. I have no idea why but if I shut down programs like illustrator or word it will open happily. I also get plenty of RIP lockups when closing the job setup window. Irritating but not enough to slow me down.
  19. Printing Double Sided Banners

Its not too hard to do. I have a VP-540, I have done double sided, including a 20x4ft banner. Smaller is actually easier because there is less room for them to skew. Print em in batches of 4, create a corner mark at the zero position. make sure your feed is completely straight. print the...
