  2. Times are tough, or are they?

Last year was great for me, this year has been totally crazy busy since January and getting busier. I think it boils down to what you specialize in and how you market yourself. There's plenty of advertising demand out there! Edit, to say that the 2 years previous to 2010 were terrible for me...

  6. Ink cost per Square Foot?

Load a sh*tload of media into your printer with brand new cartidges and then rip and print another sh*tload of various files (ranging from heavy to light ink saturation) and print it all until your cartridges run dry... then throw it all in the trash and figure out what it cost you per square...
  7. My work on someone else's website

Just shows how much the attitude of "nobody really owns it if it is out on the web" is present... My question is: How did you find out about it? Was the file name still the same as original? I'd love some tips on how to search for my own stuff on other websites.
  8. Always back up

I'm home-based and have a a detached shop with a hard-wired network (as well as wireless) between the buildings. I do my backups via Ethernet to a hard drive in the other building in case of fire or theft, etc.
  9. So is this as good as it gets?

Did you make sure the blade depth is set properly as I asked earlier?
  10. Red oracal 651 scrap, any way to recycle?

I get what Bob is saying...so you donate it to a school and the kids make neat little 'things' with it. Then bring it home. Mom and Dad hang onto the hideous 'thing' for a while out of shear guilt, then eventually throw it right into the same landfill you were trying to avoid in the first place.
  11. So is this as good as it gets?

So why not try lowering the blade just a little bit at least?
  12. So is this as good as it gets?

Oh, Looks like Auto-FX was thinking the same thing as I was typing!
  13. So is this as good as it gets?

Ok, I did not read every post about your problem but skimmed through and see that you mentioned having to use really high pressure to get it to cut. I wondering if it's possible that your blade depth is not enough and so you are actually forcing the blade holder down onto the vinyl surface...
  14. Who's putting up the Sign?

I just make a note on the invoice that says "installation not included" or Installation to be provided by customer". -Done deal

  16. new roland printer?

    LOL.... bitch away, Old Fart!
  17. new roland printer?

I gotta agree with Darlak on this one. This might be a great machine for the smaller shop who subs out all their large format printing & wrap prints, but could really use a small machine like this one to handle the smaller, quick turnaround jobs. 2010 was my best year yet and so far, 2011 is up...

I was watching that for about an hour this morning, cute little fuzzy thing!

  20. burned out and faded away....

He seems like he was built to implode. But then again, I have not walked a mile in his shoes nor seen what he has seen....at least according to him, I haven't. WTF was the whole at the doorstep of death thing about? Holy f-ing hell, the thread started about some dork blowing an interview by...
