No, you're right. I agree with you 100%, I was making (or at least trying to make) a joke.
Honestly, I wouldn't even say that it's been designed that way at most places I work. It's more like, "Hey, Bill is retiring" or "Frank got canned" and the jobs get spread out until "somebody new gets...
I'm pretty sure you just described a typical day for at least 30-40% of the people on Signs101. Add in a few extra steps and it's a pretty standard day for me.
It's also worth mentioning that if you get a combo printer/plotter, you can only do one of those at a time. So if everything you print gets plotted, you're going to double the production time for all of your jobs. Unless you're printing an entire roll at a time, you're not going to be able to do...
We almost always wait 24 hours (obviously there are exceptions). We just keep stuff on the roll and loosen it a bit to let it outgas. Are you physically spreading prints all over the place?
I'd say at least half, likely more, especially in the beginning.
Your boss is definitely going to have to hire another person and depending on how he pays for all of the equipment and how much the company is outsourcing, it's probably going to be a couple years before he sees any ROI. It'll...

Unless you're spraying the alcohol directly on the adhesive there is virtually no chance of that happening. We clean almost everything with 91% or 70% IPA before we apply anything.
There are a lot of fly-by-night operations in China, open one day and closed the next. This happens all the time. Lots of people get bamboozled.
I would buy a used, refurbished, or floor model printer from a reputable manufacturer before I'd buy a Chinese printer. Heck, I wouldn't even take one...
