  1. Grimco Relabeled Brands ?

Same stuff, ShineRite is also General Formulations. Have you had trouble with it? For CHEAP CALENDERED film we've found it to be great. Not exactly something you'd put on a vehicle and expect it to last more than a year, but great for the right application.
  2. Any UV Flatbed printer suggestions?

It's true. Like I said, a big reason why we went with the CET machine. We're a small operation but I could see us outgrowing the HP FB500/700 (or most other machines in our price range) very quickly, if not immediately. For the money, the CET allows for more throughput than we'll need for the...
  3. Grimco Relabeled Brands ?

Yup, Key is Ultraflexx (actually it's Starflex, who is the actual manufacturer of Ultraflex...). Good stuff. Most, if not all of their BriteLine vinyl is General Formulations, also good stuff. Nothing high end but we've been using GF films for years and have zero complaints whatsoever.
  4. Wow....Just, Wow...

Yeah Gary, that really sucks. We use the Columbus branch regularly and have never had any major problems like that. And they're usually really good if problems to arise, they've always taken care of us. Hopefully someone there will get you taken care of.
  5. Any UV Flatbed printer suggestions?

This is why we chose the CET as well. Except we're actually going with the hybrid because we want to move banner and wallpaper production over to it and away from our solvent printers. Plus what Artbot said about end-user service. CET actually tells you they recommend you learn to service it...
  6. Any UV Flatbed printer suggestions?

Look into the CET Color units, very very impressive for the price. We're pulling the trigger on one this week.
  7. Breakdown of members niche in the sign industry...

What exactly do YOU do? Me personally my daily tasks include sales, account management, project management and quoting. In general I also schedule work through the shop and keep an eye on everything to make sure things are working as smoothly as possible. Are you self-employed, an...
  8. print shifting to left with each pass

Just make sure you only use a lint free cloth lightly dampened with water, distilled water if you can get your hands on it. DO NOT use any sort of solvent or abrasive cleaner on it.
  9. print shifting to left with each pass

    Clean your encoder strip.
  10. Come take this piece of junk

I think that pretty much sums it up exactly.
  11. Come take this piece of junk

Honestly it's hard to say. They installed it on ours about 2 months into ownership but it made no noticeable improvement in media handling. We're now learning though that that is probably because the takeup was so skewed that it was being forced to feed crooked as it printed. So I have nothing...
  12. Come take this piece of junk

Update: the Epson engineer just left. Aside from the fact that our printer has had more breakdowns than a typical machine, I'm feeling better about it this morning. He went over the frame with a fine toothed comb and determined the root of all of our media feeding issues is because the frame was...
  13. Increasing Productivity with Web-based Tools

    Hahahahaha :goodpost:
  14. Fading Blacks with Mimaki

Try running at a higher resolution and slowing the printer down. Canvas is really hard to print on our JV33 and was on our JV3s also, the ink likes to puddle in the low spots of the canvas washing it out a bit. We found going to a high number of passes and unidirectional gave us the best...
  15. Am I at fault? Or is this guy just being a little too picky?

Unfortunately I agree. I do think the guy's being an a**hat and a little picky (really, he's got to throw out there it's a $48k truck, really? really?). But you didn't get a signed proof, so you don't have much of a leg to stand on unfortunately. I'd just fix the art, recut and mail him to him...
  16. Come take this piece of junk

Ha! I'm sort of expecting the same thing honestly. And like I said, we're super busy right now because we're so far behind from having a machine down, I'm not sure if they're expecting me to sit there and run wallpaper samples through it all day so they can see it for themselves but that's not...
  17. Come take this piece of junk

The Epson "high ranking" engineer will be here tomorrow morning, we'll see what they say, I'll report back with an update then. So far though the printer's printing fine. We haven't tried to print anything heavy on it (banner or wallpaper) so I'm not sure if aligning the frame will have fixed...
  18. Thanks FatCat!!!

You are crazy and no longer my friend. Crazy. CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZY.
  19. Thanks FatCat!!!

Look what just came in the mail!!! Sean Alley (FatCat) found out I like pickles like 13 year old girls like Justin Bieber so he sent me a big case of Tony Packo's pickles!!! Holy crap are these things good. Pickle party at Insignia!!! Woo hoo!
  20. Come take this piece of junk

Agreed, believe me our dealer is in line to lose some business. I don't claim to be their largest customer by a long shot, but we spent about $50k with them last year and seriously were considering a flatbed purchase from them this year, but I've lost faith in them after this situation...
